While I WILL NOT be voting for Trump--because I wholeheartedly believe in kindness towards others no matter what age, race, religion or ability--I do not quite think I will be able to cast my vote towards Hillary Clinton. As bad as it sounds, I don't think I can vote for her because she is a woman.
The first female president has a very big role. More massive than any president before her. A larger role than all of her male counterparts. The first female president will set the tone for all women to come. If Clinton were to become president and do extremely well, she would pave the way for gender equality in the oval office. This would be ideal. However, if she were to do poorly, or even if she did everything right and the public was not completely satisfied with her performance as Commander-in-Chief, she would taint the image of a woman becoming president for decades to come. If Clinton were to become president and do poorly. it would be one step forward but two steps back for womankind.
The way things are going in the presidential race so far, it is not a guarantee Clinton will succeed in the public's eye. Because of her innocent ignorance on the importance of separate email servers, Clinton would be starting her presidential term off with already low approval ratings and with wide distrust of the American people.
Clinton is beyond inspiring. She is absolutely a woman to admire. Clinton's pure dedication to public service is evident in the years of hard work she has tirelessly given to our country. Clinton has never once given up. Even when Obama defeated her in 2008, she came back again this year for the 2016 race. Clinton has always fought for what she believes in, fought for all people. This can be seen throughout her roles as lawyer, law professor, first lady, senator, and presidential candidate. All attributes I would want to see in a presidential candidate.
However, I am terrified that because of her reputation--because of the way her opponents have portrayed her--she may never please the public as president. I feel that no matter what she does as president, she may never be liked. She may always be painted as Crooked Hillary. This is almost completely out of her control. Yet, it will not only be her that suffers, it will be womankind as a whole that suffers. Because of this, I join the many Americans that do not know how to cast their vote come November.
