Why Donald Trump's GOP Debate Boycott Reaffirms His Incompetence

Donald Trump's boycott of the 7th Republican Debate has been trending on social media. The debate was held in Iowa on January 28th, 2016 and aired on Fox News, which is what Trump had a problem with. Fox News also aired the 1st Republican Debate (6th August 2015 in Cleveland, Ohio) during which Trump had a falling-out with Megyn Kelly, who was one of the hosts. She asked him a tough question and he got stuck:

Trump was dealing with a high-pressure situation and tried handling it by threatening to "not be nice" to Kelly because of her question. Moreover, he was arguing against political correctness, showing his desire to be unnecessarily offensive to particular groups of people. He clearly felt defeated with regards to Kelly's question and so after the debate, Trump proceeded to make the famous "blood coming out of her wherever" comment in an interview with CNN.

This was another bad move and did not improve the situation because, once again, he tried handling the situation by belittling her with an uncalled for remark about her menstrual cycle.

While all this was enough to show his ego, narcissism, lack of brain usage and incompetence when dealing with mistakes that he has made (because owning up them is impossible for Mr Trump), it was made clear that Kelly had truly defeated him when he boycotted the 7th GOP debate in Iowa. He wanted Kelly gone but Fox News didn't budge, and so, he very immaturely held his own rally at the same time as the debate on 28th January.

While Trump is trying to make the boycott look like a protest against Fox News for allegedly using him to make money through extended commercial duration, it seems like he is intimidated by Kelly because of her tough questions and excellent journalistic skills. He is the stereotypical misogynist, in denial about the fact that a woman is more sensible than him. He did not want to risk being asked questions that he cannot give a strong response to, and with Trump's unlimited supply of irresponsible and politically incorrect statements, it is very easy for a sharp-witted journalist like Megyn Kelly to put him in such a situation.

Someone who cannot own up to his mistakes, handles high-pressure situations with threats and unnecessarily demeaning comments and blames the revelation of his weaknesses on the strengths of others is hardly competent enough to hold office. Paradoxically, however, in today's world, his traits are exactly what make him a stereotypical politician.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
