Why Dogs Are Better Than Cats

August 26 marks the day we celebrate our beloved furry friends. Here are a couple of reasons why dogs are better than cats.

1. You Can Actually Interact With Them

Dogs are known for greeting us whenever we arrive home from school or work with a smile and their tail wagging at the speed of light because they're so excited to see us after a long day. They love to nap with you and follow you around all day with a tennis ball ready to play fetch. They are also known to listen to you vent about life and you can tell they're paying attention to you and they even give you support by giving you kisses. Cats on the other hand, don't really care if your're home or not as long as there is food in their food tray.

2. They Make Great Workout Buddies

All dogs, no matter what how big they are, require exercise. They will run with you until they get tired but even at times they will continue to follow you because they want to be with their human friend. They will also make you run after them when playing fetch and will not give up their ball until you've caught them. Cats on the other hand, like to lay down all day and not move from their spot until they get up to eat and then go back to their resting spot.

3. Dogs Are More Protective

Who needs an alarm security system when you have a dog? When someone is even within a 100 feet radius of your house, it begins to bark and bark until they get your attention to see who is around your house or at the door. If a stranger approaches you, the dog will get in front front of you and "protect" you from harm and bark at the person to defend its owner. Cats on the other hand, don't really care who is inside the house or who approaches you.

4. Dogs Make You A Happier Person

Since dogs naturally are happy to see their human friends, the positive energy they carry make you smile and they are always happy to see you and want to see you happy. When you are sad, your dog will literally walk up to you and will look genuinely concerned about you. When you play with a dog, your laughter will cause the dog to smile and will make everyone happy. Having a dog is an overall great investment, and their more active lifestyle and cheerfulness than cats will have you realize that dogs make such great loyal companions, no wonder they're called "man's best friend".
