Recently, social and political issues in the country have occurred and caused some chaos and outright rage within the United States. Some of these issues relate to race, religion, and their relationships to one another. The funny thing is that most of what has been happening has been twisted in media to squeeze out the very last drop of the story so ratings can be bolstered and supported. This in turn causes media to do the same, and every piece of news repeats itself.
Now I know what you are thinking... it’s good to be informed of these things and that a position be established on them. Issues relating to race and police brutality have been numerous and the populous response just as plenty. Several fringe groups have sprung up encouraging people to disgrace the American flag and to openly engage police officers to incite and garner a police response with violence. Other groups call for attacks to be levied on police everywhere. Just recently in the local area police officers were shot trying to carry out their jobs. The attack was flagrant.
What is troubling about these types of incidents is that they accomplish nothing and further empower local law enforcement to crack down even more. The budget increases and taxes are increased. Incidents where police are sued for their tactics are going to force those municipalities to strip other programs such as morning and lunch programs at school. This hasn’t been covered in the news. We are shown images and recordings of people abusing their position of authority and perhaps using too much force to subdue and control situations that have spiraled viciously out of control. How many times will people and civilians engage in this ridiculous repetition? When will citizens of this country stop looking around for someone to blame and level our rage at the people who are responsible for these type of things.
After all we as a whole are to blame for everything that occurs within our borders. Instead the news was dominated about stories related to Bruce Jenner getting a sex change. The creators of South Park, a satirical cartoon on comedy central, Trey Parker and Matt Stone have noticed this trend also and use their program to demonstrate the foolishness that is mainstream media and lambaste them throughout every episode. The recent episode had a mocked the Politically Correctness of everything. Caitlyn Jenner is lauded sarcastically several times and is referred to as inspirational and a beautiful woman. My first thought was, “Who the hell is Caitlyn Jenner and why is this on the news?” after getting on the interwebs and traveling from a few articles to others I decided that there were way too many articles related to this. How is any of this inspirational? Have we as a society gone mad? It doesn’t push the social equality agenda forward any further. This type of thing is isolated and quite frankly I believe the brave transsexual people are the ones who are living their lives trying to cope with an identity that they know not to be them, but they don’t have Jenner money. They don't parade their lifestyles so shamelessly on television.
Why do the types of people like the Kardashians dominate the news and push the moral and public agendas? There is a huge population of homeless in the country. Veterans are committing suicide every day and are having trouble getting medical attention and treatment for injuries sustained and conditions that were caused by war. These are the people who deserve the recognition and the air time on television. No one should care who Angelina and Brad adopted today or what fashions are in or out. These things look to distract us from the true issues and our own lives. The US government is heading for another shutdown but this is being sidelined due to Planned Parenthood being the center of topics after the recent discovery about them selling unborn fetuses and tissues. Again accountability is not being enforced and we are effectively distracted. So I ask again... Why do people care?
