Why Cousins are the Best Kind of Friends

“Cousins are the best friends you’ll always have from the same family tree”

Growing up in a Hispanic family there was always someone to play with at family parties from different age ranges and when we all got together in one room I’m pretty sure all of our parents thought we would burn the house down. Having so many cousins’ makes you realize how much you’ll always have growing up since they are forever going to be by your side.

As my cousins and I have grown up we might not see each other as much since school, and work, and other priorities start occupying our lives but something that I can speak from all of my cousins is that we are there for each other no matter what. One of my cousins recently moved to California and I can call her at any time or text at any moment and ill always get a response right away. If any one of us are sick or happen to be in the hospital at one point (this happened to me lol) you’ll for sure have most of your cousins by your hospital bedside trying to make you laugh so hard that the doctor will question if you even feel sick anymore.

At family parties always a great time, when you were younger you would be able to play for hours and do super reckless things since you knew your parents wouldn’t want to yell at you in front of the rest of the family. Family shows? You got it with my cousins. We would preform dances and skits pretending we were in some type of comedy show sometimes. There are endless family videos of when we were younger preforming dances and having mini shows for our families.

Family vacations, we would be the ones since we were young that would persuade our families to book vacations to resorts and we would always win that one. So many memories were held in hotel rooms and waterparks growing up with my cousins. I have vivid memories of us asking our dads to get us virgin piña coladas and us sitting in the Jacuzzi thinking about how one day we would be 21 being able to drink like our parents LOL.

Your cousins will always support you no matter what choices you make. That’s what best friends are for, we could be doing something wrong but it doesn’t matter because we will support each other and try to help each other out no matter what. That’s what friends in life sometimes wont do for you but blood over water is something we have always lives by. We’ve seen people walk in and out of our lives but for us that doesn’t matter because we all know that one day when were older all we will have is each other and the tight knit bond that we hold will never go away. Even if we don’t talk daily we could all get together at a family reunion and it would all start were we left off.

I love all my cousins so much and can’t thank them enough for being who they are as people. Every single one of them is so different and brings so much light to my life that I don’t think I tell them that enough. What are some of your favorite things about your cousins?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
