Why Coming Back To School After Winter Break Isn't So Bad

Who doesn't love a fresh start?

Why Coming Back To School After Winter Break Isn't So Bad

I used to get so nervous to be back at school after long breaks. There are years that I see my friends all break and there are years where I spend most of the time with family. Either way, time goes so fast. It seems like I don't have enough time over break to do all that I want to do. However, over the years I have realized all the things I learned over break can help me do well that next semester.

I realized that my friends at school are the best and that I miss them so much. Even though I got to see some of them over break, there's nothing like being at school with them. They sometimes understand my struggles more than I do. If you're someone who doesn't have a great support system at school, just remember that your people are out there. People are just as stressed out as you are, which makes it easier to bond over certain things. It's okay to pop in on a conversation here or there to see if you might connect with others.

I realized that it's amazing how much there is to know about the world, history, cultures, and people. Getting an education is so important and sometimes we take that for granted. Of course it's important to spend time at home and relax. We all deserve "me time" and countless nights of binge watching Netflix. However, there is so much more we can all learn and going back to school helps.

I don't know about you, but starting school back up again helps with my own organization. I love getting a new planner and putting in all the important test dates or fun events scheduled. It's also an excuse to buy more cute notebooks and spend more time at Barnes & Noble. It's nice to have a schedule every day because it makes you feel more productive. Plus, who doesn't like crossing things off a list?

Finally, coming back to school after winter break means a fresh start. You have a whole semester ahead of you. You have control of how your semester is going to go. Go up to your professors the first week of classes and introduce yourself. It's important to show your professors that you care about your grades and your future. Since New Year's Day has already passed, make sure to keep up with your resolutions. Make the most out of this semester and have a positive attitude. Have fun, you deserve it.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
