So now it's 2017 and it's time to make those New Year's resolutions a reality. New year new me, am I right? As college students, juggling our responsibilities is a challenge, but not without reward! College is the perfect place to fulfill those goals we had, but did not have the motivation to attack. Put that freedom and newfound self-direction to use! Here are some common resolutions that college knows a thing or two about:

1. Maintaining a healthy diet

With dining halls and food courts around campus offering healthy options, the resolution to eat better is attainable! The real test of strength is making those health-conscious choices on your own.

2. Striving for balance

With schedules packed with classes and coursework, among other activities, striving for balance is a necessary endeavor for any college student. Without constant parental guidance, it's time for you to pick your priorities!

3. Drinking enough water

Drink water! With many bottle-filling stations located around campus, staying hydrated has never been so easy. Carry around a reusable water bottle at all times-- your body and the environment will thank you!

4. Looking for new experiences

College is the prime time to take the initiative to seek new experiences. Step out of your comfort zone by joining a new club or trying out a new skill. College has no shortage of opportunities to experiment with--and meet new people along the way!

5. Spending less $$$

Live that frugal college lifestyle to its fullest by participating in events that won't cost you a dime. On-campus events are the perfect time to catch up with your pals during an otherwise hectic week!

6. Being more organized

Everybody knows this: organization is key. Stay on top of your assignments and be less forgetful by keeping a planner!

7. Procrastinating less

College students are arguably the most familiar with procrastination. Be stronger than the rest of us and go forth with that resolution to be more productive! Focus on what needs to be done in spite of what you could but probably shouldn't be doing on campus.

8. Getting more zzz

Getting enough sleep is unheard of for the majority of us-- but this does not have to be the case for you if your resolution is to get more sleep! Make this resolution a reality by #2 Striving for balance, #7 Procrastinating less and making those 8 hours a priority.

9. Hitting your FitBit step goals

This one goes out to all of you dedicated FitBit-ers. Ditch the shuttle and set aside some extra time to walk to classes. You'll hit those step goals in no time! With a view like this, why wouldn't you want to walk anyway?

10. Treating yo' self

Sometimes you just need to #treatyoself after a long week. You can still fulfill your goals of #1 Maintaining a healthy diet and #2 Striving for balance by enjoying a treat once in a while. This is what balance is about anyway, right?

11. Re-watching Gilmore Girls

Priorities, people. When college life has you stressed out, there's nothing better than an hour (or five) of uninterrupted Netflixing. No shame!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
