For all those who don't already know, NC State has a large population of students from Charlotte, NC. We are those annoying kids that everyone else hates because all we do is complain about how much we miss Charlotte and how awesome it is. At first, I took growing up in Charlotte for granted, but now that I'm gone, it's only made my love for the beautiful Queen City stronger. So, for all those who haven't visited Charlotte here are some reasons why you should.
1. The Skyline
Charlotte was voted the prettiest skyline in North Carolina. Even though it may not be as big as some skylines in the United States, it definitely has character.
2. Food
Even though this is something you can find anywhere, Charlotte is home to several small original restaurants you can't find anywhere else.
3. Uptown
Charlotte may be the only place where Downtown is actually referred to as Uptown…weird I know, but Uptown is home to several different pastimes and modern entertainment.
4. NoDa
Also known as North Davidson street, is pretty much its own small town and definitely has an "Asheville feel". Here, you can walk around to small family owned shops, stop by Amelie's French Bakery for your favorite pastries, listen to great music, or even take pictures against the mural walls.
5. Sports
Charlotte is also home to several sports teams including the one and only Carolina Panthers, Charlotte Hornets, the Checkers, and the Charlotte Knights.
6. Queens Road West
This is possibly the pretties road in Charlotte. Surrounded by beautiful real-estate and greenery this is such a scenic route, so if you decide to visit definitely drive down it.
7. The Greenway
This man-made trail runs all throughout Charlotte and is perfect for a Sunday afternoon stroll or bike-ride.
8. The White Water Center
The largest man made rapids in the world. Aside from the rapids, the center has rock climbing, zip lining, paddle boarding, mountain biking and hiking trails. It also has outside concerts in the spring and summer and is definitely worth checking out.
9. Shopping
Not as good as New York City, but Charlotte definitely has some original boutiques and shops that make shopping special.
10. The Light Rail
A symbol of Charlotte's growth into a big city and a great way to get around the city cheaply. Hop on if you are visiting for a tour of the uptown.
So for all those who have never been to Charlotte, you definitely should pay the Queen City a visit because She is worth your time.
