Okay, real talk. How many of you have a cat or cats? How many of you have ever been personally victimized by someone calling you a crazy cat lady? Alright, put your hands down... that's what I thought.
So you love your cat(s). There's no shame in it, trust me. I have two adorable cats myself. They're my fur babies, and life wouldn't be the same without them. They may not be famous like Taylor Swift's lovely kitties, but they're No. 1 to me.
I'm sure you love your cat(s) just as much too. You might Snapchat videos and pictures of yourself cuddling with your cat or your cat doing silly tricks. I mean, it would be a shame if your friends couldn't share your joy over your cat, am I right? My cat licks the air if you scratch this one spot on her back and let me tell you, it is one of the funniest things I have ever seen. I would be lying if I said I didn't post a clip of that to my Snap story every time I come home. Everyone loves being able to laugh at a cute and silly cat. Why do you think people waste so much time on YouTube? They're watching dozens of cat videos, duh! Max Black on "2 Broke Girls" does it all the time.
Aside from Snapchat, you probably Instagram your cat(s) too. Even if they're not Meredith Grey-famous, they're famous to your friends and random followers that like your pictures. That cat is star quality and the rest of the world deserves to see it. Not going to lie here, but when I see a picture of a cute cat on Instagram, my day gets instantly better. That picture of your cat might do the same for someone else.
When it comes to Twitter, your tweets about your baby are the cat's meow. Yes, I did just go there. Cats are in right meow! Even if they're not #trending at this exact second, you will get lost in the cat abyss if you search for it on Twitter. Tweets about cats are hilarious and straight to the point. If you don't have time to binge on YouTube videos, you can enjoy the GIFs of cats on Twitter. Or you can dive into Tumblr to find some more. If you post stuff about your cat on Tumblr, that's cool too. Like I said, there is no shame in showing your love for your cat.
Now I'm not saying to only post stuff about your cat! It might get a little old after a while if that is the ONLY thing you post, and it won't help your case against the "Crazy Cat Lady" stereotype, but if you post other stuff here and there in between, you're good. Own your cat love!
You'd think all of Taylor Swift's statuses, Instagrams and Twitter posts about her cats would make society a little more understanding of a girl's love for her cat. Wrong. It's okay though. You know why? You don't need anyone's approval of your cat love! It doesn't matter if you're not Taylor Swift—I mean let's be real, even though we want to be her, it's never ever, ever, ever going to happen—you deserve to love your cat(s) without shame. You are not a crazy cat lady. If Taylor Swift can do it and make people say “Awww, how cute!" then you can do it too. So what are you waiting for? Show your appreciation for your babies! You do you, girl! #CatLove #NotACrazyCatLady
