To a lot of people, America means everything. The opportunities here allow people to better their lives and people can start new lives with rights they never had. I admire the ideas, yet they remain just ideas. Americans do have more rights and opportunities than most people, but they are romanticized. The United States of America is an immense picture of glorified and romanticized concepts that rarely live up to its advertisements. This country is a disappointment that does not deserve to be so. America can be so much more than it is, however, the people hold America back from achieving anything and everything.
This democracy is a tyranny. The majority of people are not represented completely or equally. The government is run by people who are constantly replaced depending on their political party, or whomever they support. Money is everything, yet that should not be. Money was made by man and like mankind shall cease to exist. The fact that money is so worthless and fragile, yet powerful, drives people to commit crimes is incredible. Money means everything in this country. Bribery is corruption and corruption is America's hidden motto.
Maybe I am too pessimistic or too old fashioned. But, the fact is too many Americans view themselves as superior to others. Our government has such a high image of itself that every issue of another country, no matter how small, becomes our issue as well. The United States of America must "save" and "civilize" other countries in order to spread democracy. Perhaps, I am an anarchist. But, the government limits the people of America and restricts what many people, including the Founding Fathers, have fought and died for.
Our gun laws are criticized throughout the world. Gun laws should not be criticized. America's people should be criticized. We should be made aware of the consequences of using guns. People kill, guns do not. Guns are simply used as a tool to achieve a person's goal. When it comes to awareness, of any kind, America deserves no awards. The government needs to be called out, as well as those that live in America. I would say citizens, but there are quite a few people in America without that title.
Where is our sex education? Down the bloody drain. I never had sex education. For half a semester in high school, I had one or two classes a week that taught us how to be healthy. The only somewhat sexual topic I learned about was the difference of a male and female anatomy. I learned about sexually transmitted diseases through social media, friends and family. In that exact order. To me, America has a lot of work to do. And honestly, as each day goes by, I believe that this country will cease to exist before it can really be considered the land of golden opportunities. Freedom becomes harder to define and more difficult to practice within each year.
