We all have this picture of how our lives are supposed to go and what we want in ourselves. When we think of this, one word comes to mind...perfection.
Everyone wants that perfect body, or those perfect clothes, perfect friendships, relationships, and even a perfect life to top it all off. If everything goes perfectly in our lives than we have everything we need right? Well, what if I told you that being perfect is completely overrated....because it is. We don't need everything to go our way in life to feel happy.
All we really need to fill that "perfect" role, is a life filled with adventure and real happiness. There are so many other things to do with your life that doesn't revolve around what you think you should feel about yourself or how others think about you. Life is too precious to have you worrying about being so perfect.
What does being "perfect" mean to you?
You have to make your own meaning of what your perfection should look like. Don't depend on others for a definition of being "perfect" but make it a point to be your own kind of perfect. We all have something in our lives that makes us happy and smile everyday, so maybe that is what you want to strive for instead of always wanting to be perfect. Your own definition of the word should not even have anything to do with being the best, but achieving to be happy and content with life.
Don't give others the satisfaction of being someone you are not.
If you have a friend who is constantly changing the way you look or think to better yourself then that isn't a healthy friendship. If it is even a group at school who you are trying to model after to get their attention...is it even worth it? Being someone your not isn't what you want in life. You want to be able to express yourself the way you want and be a you that YOU think is perfect. Don't change for anyone because that is completely overrated and will not get you to a place you want to be.
Take risks.
If you are in the stage of not knowing what you want and scared of what others might think of you for not being their definition of "perfect", take a risk and show them that you can be completely fine being you. Show them what they are missing out on and be bold.
It's okay to fail sometimes.
Not everyone gets A's in every single class or do great work at their job, etc. We all make mistakes and that is apart of growing and learning to move on from them. If no one made mistakes, life would be simply boring. We make them, we learn, and we move on. Don't beat yourself up too much for messing up on something that will not matter in life two years from now
Embrace your flaws.
Flaws within ourselves is what makes human life so beautiful. Instead of hiding what we think others don't want to see, we should embrace them. Love your crazy little flaws and don't be afraid to share them with everyone.
Be thankful for what you do have.
Instead of envisioning yourself to have this oh so "perfect" life, you should be thankful for everything and everyone around you. You wouldn't be where you are today without any of these things and for that, you should be completely happy. Always know that you are loved and will be forever
Love being perfectly imperfect.
Be happy with yourself, with your life, and with everyone surrounding you. In order to find peace with yourself, you have to love being perfectly imperfect. Embrace your flaws, take risks, and be thankful. Love your life and don't change for anyone or anything. You are perfect in your own way.
