Why Being a 90's Kid (Pop) Rocks

Between the snacks we ate, the clothes we wore, and the shows we watched, there is something about the say about the 90's babies out there!

So before I begin, I must admit I cannot really call myself a 90's kid. In fact, I was technically only alive in the 90's for a solid 20 days. However by definition, since I was born in 1999, I am technically a 90's kid and therefore able to speak on why that was pretty awesome! Although I guess I am pretty biased, being raised in the early 2000's shaped me into who I am today!

1. We had some pretty delicious snacks

Between Trix Yogurts, Little Hugs Juice, Pop Rocks, and so many more, the snacks we used to eat were quite fun!

2. Our form of exercise was FUN

Although these toys probably were not the safest nor most sturdy, they kept us entertained for hours and that was all that mattered!

3. Our classrooms consisted of papers, pencils, chalkboards, and maybe an overhead projector if we were lucky

Our classrooms were simple which meant more focused learning and less emphasis on technology!

4. However, we knew when this was rolled into the classroom it was going to be a good day...

It didn't matter what movie we were watching, we just knew that when we walked into the classroom and saw this, we were in for a treat!

5. Hulu and Netflix weren't around yet, but these were most certainly in their prime

Although rewinding them wasn't always the most fun thing to do, these tapes had all of my favorite movies on them!

6. We talked to each other and had play dates instead of FaceTime calls

A simple game like this of "predicting each other's futures," kept us entertained for HOURS!

7. Bill Nye the Science Guy, School House Rock, and the Magic School Bus, taught us everything we know today

'Bill Bill Bill Bill Bill Nye the Science Guy!'

8. We were raised on shows such as "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" and "Full House"

Not only were these shows entraining and appropriate, but also taught us life lessons that will be instilled in us for the rest of our lives!

9. We listened to songs by Destiny's Child and The Spice Girls instead of Lil Pump and Jake Paul...

Such girl bosses! We also knew Beyonce before she was all that...

10. Our fashion sense was OUT OF THIS WORLD

Color, color, and a little bit more color!

All in all, while I must say I am a tad bit biased, I think you can see why being a 90's kid truly rocks :)

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
