In the past week I have seen the quote "A year from now you will wish you had started today" on social media about five times. The first few times I saw it, I just took it as coincidence. But when I saw my favorite artist Timeflies tweet it I knew it was fate. It got me thinking- what am I waiting for? What is standing in my way from being the best version of me I can be? Too often we procrastinate and hesitate on what we really want.
Sometimes we put off doing something that we really want to do because we are lazy, we don't know how to start, or we don't know where this new journey is going to take us. We say we'll start going to the gym tomorrow day after day after day. Life is too short to keep putting it off. It may be difficult to start, but the end results are going to be worth it. The journey is part of the experience.
After some reflection on my own experiences- the thing that has stood in my way was myself and my fear of failure. There have been so many times looking back, that I would like to go back and redo. But just when I start thinking about what I would change, I think about what I wouldn't change. There is so much that I would not want to change, and for that I am so thankful.
There is a lyric from Timeflies' song "Runaway" that says "My biggest dream is my biggest fear/And I think it's by design/Cause if we don't succeed at what we're trying to do/It's like we knew it would happen the whole time" which sums up what I am trying to say pretty nicely.
Regrets are things that all of us live with. It's almost inevitable. Most humans are also inevitably afraid of failure. But what would you do if you knew you could not fail? What would you do if there was no limitations on what you could do, where you could go, or who you could be? In reality, there are no limitations. The only ones we have are the ones we set for ourselves.
