I'll be the first person to say that I'm still not exactly sure why the Kardashian-Jenner clan got as famous as they are now. However, I do admire how they've taken their business skills and expanded them to the point where they are now on top of the world. But there are a lot of people who completely disagree with me, saying that these women are trash and don't deserve all of the good fortune that they have received in recent years.
Last week, Kim was in Paris where she was robbed at gunpoint. About 9 to 11-million dollars worth of jewelry was taken out of her possession. Five men gagged her, tied her up, and left her alone. Kim was such a mess (and rightfully so) that her husband, Kanye West, left his show in New York 45 minutes-in for a family emergency.
Surprisingly enough, the internet is unhappy.
Many people, such as myself, support Ms. Kardashian-West through this terrifying moment in her life. If I were her, I'd be absolutely terrified that this happened to me. Recently, Keeping Up With the Kardashians was cancelled and all of the girls have cancelled appearances indefinitely, and people are speculating that Kim and her family are trying to stay on the down low for the current time, and I don't blame them at all. Somehow, there are people, particularly the NRA, who are making jokes, blaming Kim for her attack.
The National Rifle Association has felt the need to use this traumatizing event in someone else's life as an agenda to promote less gun legislation and mock those who support gun control. While the NRA weighs in on the event, many notable news sources have been attacking Kardashian-West for this event happening: some even claiming that this is all a hoax in order to get some attention.
The thing that genuinely bugs me about this situation is that people are only angry because of who the victim is and saying she shouldn't have had all of those jewels with her. Regardless of what happens, or who it happens to, no one should blame the victim. The real problem is the crime that was committed, not the person who was affected by said crime. People shouldn't have to be scared to have their belongings with them or to leave the house just because people know their name and who they are. Whatever your opinion is of Kim and the rest of her family, we should not throw the blame her way, but at the five men who stormed into her apartment, tied her up, and robbed her of so much.
