Okay, people so let’s just jump right into this shit, the Netflix show Luke Cage is lit! I’ve been waiting for this show to come out for the longest time. Ever since I saw the trailer for it months ago, it has been the one Netflix show I’ve been waiting for. Before it even came on Netflix I told my friends and family that when it came on Netflix the next Friday, no one better bother me unless it was an emergency. Seriously! I was so excited about this because this was the first production by Marvel where we would get a black superhero lead character. I watched the first five episodes of the show in one day and I absolutely fell in love with all of the characters. Plus, the storyline and action scenes were just as amazing. You would think that everyone would like it and there would be no problems right? Wrong!
Although Luke Cage is getting a lot of praise for being the great show that it is, there are always those people who will have something to complain about. Apparently there are some people who dislike the show because they said it has a predominately black cast. Some white people are saying stuff like “where’s the diversity in Luke Cage, all I see is black people” or “this show seems kind of racist, where are the leading white roles”. Lord have mercy. You know, I hate to say this but I’m starting to get real tired of having to talk about race to other people. It’s like no matter how much I try to explain it, some people just won’t understand it. It’s like trying to explain calculus to a six-year-old. Seriously.
You want to know why it is a predominately black cast? It’s because in the Luke Cage comics that came out in the 70s consisted of mostly black characters. Also, they are in Harlem. You know the majority of people that live in Harlem? Don’t worry I’ll let you guess…too late! It’s black people. There are people of different races in that show. The reason why there is a predominately black cast is so it could make the setting of the show seem more authentic. Plus, let's be honest here people. So, people got mad about it being a mostly black cast, but nobody says shit when they see hundreds of different TV shows with mostly white casts. Gee I wonder why. I love watching King of Queens, but do I get mad and refuse to watch it because there are mostly white people? No! I watch it because it is a good show. Anyway, I’m done having to talk about this. For the people who like Luke Cage check it out on Netflix. If you don’t, do you. Peace.
