Freshman year was an exciting time full of new friends, adventures and memories to last a lifetime, and I'm sad that it had to come to an end. I already miss the campus that has become my home and everything about it, from the many hills to the beautiful sunsets. I miss having the natural lands to hike in right on top of campus and the gorges that are two miles away from it. You could say that I'm going through post freshman year depression and that I wish I could go back to the beginning of the semester. I am, however, looking forward to sophomore year and whatever may come with it, and I hope that the summer goes by as fast as the rest of the year did. Here are some reasons why I am really looking forward to sophomore year.
Reuniting with friends
I miss all of my friends already even though I just left them. The time apart from them is sad, but it makes getting to see them again come August even betterYou already know the ropes
Freshman year, although very exciting, is also scary at the beginning. A lot of people like myself go into freshman year completely blind without knowing anyone, and the initial period of not knowing anyone is frightening. As a sophomore, you know a lot of people and will meet even more. You also know where everything is and what is expected of you in class.
Campus has become home
The campus very quickly transformed from a foreign land to the homeland. It makes me feel safe and happy, and it has beautiful sunsets that loom over it that can make even a bad day become wonderful. Going back to campus will be like going back home.
More adventures
Spontaneous would be an accurate word to describe college. Lots of adventures are not planned in advance but sort of just happen. They are the some of the best things that can happen in college and become more frequent as time goes on.
More opportunities
Now that you have a year of experience under your belt, you know how to find out about more events going on, both on campus and in the community. The opportunities, although available to everyone, become more and more endless as time goes on.
College is just plain awesome
College is fun. Amid all of the work and stress you may be under, you never fail to have a great time.
Summer will be a great time to wind down and do things away from the classroom. So hit the beach, make some money at work and don't worry about school, but don't forget about it either.
See you in August! It will be here before you know it.
