If you're a "Grey's Anatomy" super fan like me, there's no arguing that the friendship shared between Alex and Meredith is 100 percent girl/guy best friend goals. If you have a relationship like this, you're one of the lucky ones. If not, you're probably searching for it (and probably living vicariously through Alex and Mer while watching the show). Here are the top three, best, and my all time favorite Alex and Meredith moments throughout the 12 seasons.
3. Meredith giving up her wedding day for Alex and Izzy.
With Izzy being sick with brain cancer, Meredith realized that she may not have time left in her life to have the wedding of her dreams, with the man of her dreams. Because of her compassion for both Alex and Izzy, she gives up her wedding day and all of her preparation and Alex and Izzy gets married instead. Mer and Alex had been close leading up to this, but I believe that this is the real beginning of their close bond and friendship.
2. When Alex accepts the job at Johns Hopkins but Meredith convinces him to stay in Seattle after the plane crash.
The famous "everyone is leaving and everyone is dying" scene. Alex feels guilty and wants to leave Seattle and head to Baltimore for a fresh start... but in the process forgetting to give Meredith a proper goodbye first (typical). After a heated argument and both getting onto their planes and heading to different cities, they both realize their time to leave isn't right now. They meet at the airport bar (as always) and decide they can't go. Apologies are exchanged over tequila shots and all is right in the Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital bubble again.
1. The Tequila on the bedroom floor scene. (Season 12)
This is by far my favorite scene of Meredith and Alex in the entire series. It shows how Alex, against his will, becomes Meredith's "person" after Cristina leaves. Meredith comes face to face with the woman who killed Derek and then finds out she will be working at the hospital starting the following week. Alex is extra cautious and asks her multiple times if she will be okay, even when she tells him it's okay to leave. This scene shows the full circle relationship that they share and really depicts Alex's true self. He is selfless and would do anything to protect or comfort his best friend.
Throughout 12 seasons and countless scenes of fighting, laughing, yelling and crying, these three scenes stuck out to be the most memorable interactions between Alex and Meredith. They are truly each other's "day ones" and grow to have a relationship every friend duo should be jealous of.
