Whore: A Word Of Attack

Can one truly be a whore? Why can't we enjoy sex for love and for pleasure?

A woman who engages in promiscuous sexual intercourse, usually for money; prostitute; harlot; strumpet, is the definition of a whore according to the online dictionary. If you go to urban dictionary it is a women who sleeps with everyone but you. Though I really do not like that in both definitions the word whore is mostly directed towards women. I also don't like derailing the word whore as being used for having causal sex.

If a women chooses to have causal sex that is her decision. We should not be put down for it. The fact that it is more acceptable for a man to have multiple sex partners is very belittling. Yes, men do get put down for having causal sex, and they are usually called a man-whore; it's also unfair for the man as well because, truly they can sleep with as many people as they like. Choosing to sleep with multiple people does not pay our bills or put food on our table, so why do we care so much? Why must we be so concerned about how many people others sleep with or who they sleep with? Do we care so much because of the possibility of cheating?

Yes, we should care if we are cheated on and I know we jump right away that the outside party is a whore but doesn't that make the significant other a whore as well? Yet are they really whores or just people who aren't making the right choice and a choice that is hurting others? Both people are choosing to sleep together are at fault. I wouldn't say the word whore is the form of attack we should use. I would go more along the lines of people who are making poor life decisions and not thinking of how they're actions will effect others. Don't get me wrong, I do not agree with cheating I just don't agree with the word whore.

The word whore is used as a form of attack, but is it the right form? We live in a society where nothing but judgment fills our minds and the ears of our friends. We can't help it no matter how hard we try not judge, it just happens there is no control. The judgement of others is a pool we are constantly drowning in and there really is no way of surviving it. You could sleep with one person your entire life and somehow someone will find a way to call you a whore. Whether it is them joking around about you being a whore or them thinking your a whore because your personality is just too friendly for them to handle. We can't avoid being slaughtered by the people around us. Sex is but another word in the dictionary that people try to use to penalize us for having.

Though sex can be for love or pleasure, it is ones choice not your friends or classmates decision. I do not think choosing sex for pleasure is wrong and most defiantly do not think it makes you a whore. Some people just prefer causal sex over a relationship and who are we to have a place in someones choice of causality. Overall, I think the word whore is placed to give us a name for having causal sex, but is used more as a form of attack then explanation to ones choices. Do we really need another word of attack to bring others down? I know this article is a bit of a risk, but in the end I hope it gives you something to debate and discuss.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
