Who Is Mike Bloomberg?

The Man Investing 300 Million Of His Own Cash To Take Down Trump

Who Is Mike Bloomberg?

Mike Bloomberg: the mega-entrepreneur, ex Mayor of New York City, and 2020 democatic candidate for the President of the United States of America.

If you engage in any form of leisure television watching, I am sure you have some idea who this man is. His robust advertising campaign is part of the reason why a rich New York City Jew could defeat Mr. Trump. Before I continue, I'd like to disclaim -- this article is fraught with political bias and personal opinion.

My judgments and commentaries are merely that --- learn the facts, make decisions for yourself.

Sir Michael Blooomberg is a seventy-eight year old businessman turned politician. (Don't worry, he is not a golf-playing Republican with a cheap spray tan).

He is a respected New Yorker, who grew up in Medford, Massachuset. He attended both Johns Hopkins University and Harvard Business School, receiving an education in finance and software operations. In 1981, Bloomberg founded Bloomberg L.P., a computer software system, revolutionizing the world of financial data. Through this enterprise, Bloomberg accumulated a mass of wealth, becoming the ninth-richest person in the world as of this year.
While I could ramble on for a few more pages, I'm sure you would get bored, maybe start watching Tiktok. If you want his bio, search Wikipedia -- it's time to get to the good stuff.

Micheal Bloomberg is a top contender in the Democartic Party's pursuit to once and for all get rid of Donald. Compared to his opponent, Bernie Sanders, Bloomberg is considered moderate. Before 2001, he was a registered Democrat, switched to the Republican Party for his bid as New York's mayor and won. In 2007, he registered as an independent and served three terms. Nevertheless, Mike is back as a Democrat and "running for president to defeat Donald Trump and rebuild America,"

Mike seems a little late in the game, but life is unpredictable (remember 2016??) If it's Bernie vs. Bloomberg in the end, I think an old rich dude may have a chance, once again, to actually "make America great".

Where does he stand? A brief summary of Bloomberg's stance on our country's most pressing issues.

GUNS

  • Primary funder of Everytown for Gun Safety, a nonprofit advocating for gun control and a rival against the NRA
  • Advocates for universal background checks
  • Ban on assault weapons
  • Increased enforcement of gun trafficking

CLIMATE CHANGE

  • Proposes an "achievable" version of the Green New Deal
    • His program, Beyond Carbon, aims to eliminate coal-fired power plants by 2030 and stop the growth of natural gas

HEALTHCARE

  • Advocates for a public health insurance alternative for those incapable of paying themselves; it would be a "Medicare for all for people that are uncovered" rather than a universal single-payer healthcare system.

MINIMUM WAGE

  • Raise the federal minimum wage to $15/hour

TAXES + WALL STREET

  • Proposed a 0.1% financial transactions tax, which would be phased over time
  • Wants to strengthen banking and lending regulations to "protect Americans from predatory and discriminatory practices – and harness the power of the financial system to spread opportunity and drive economic growth in every community."
  • Opponent of Elizabeth's Warren wealth tax -- wants to increase taxes on the wealthy, like himself, but believes a wealth tax like Warren proposed just "wouldn't work"

IMMIGRATION

  • Give a pathway to citizenship for the 11.3 undocumented immigrants currently living in the U.S.
  • Rescind President Trump's travel ban
  • End family separation policies
  • Set the annual refugee resettlement target to 125,000.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
