White Privilege Is Alive And Well In America

As some of you may know, a certain piece of human garbage, known as Brock Turner, has been released from prison after serving a three month sentence for raping a unconscious girl behind a dumpster. Brock was originally given a six month sentence even though the prosecution asked for six years. He was given such a short sentence because according to the judge a longer sentence could have a "severe impact on him." Despite the fact that he sexually assaulted a girl and traumatized her, the judge felt sorry for this poor fragile, naive little rich white boy and decided to go easy on him. There is no doubt that this is a huge miscarriage of justice but this is certainly not the first time this has happened nor will it be the last time. So now ladies and gentleman, let me present to you the three other pieces of human garbage who benefitted off of white privilege and were able to serve little to no jail time for their heinous crimes!

Piece of human garbage #1: Austin Wilkerson

He raped an unconscious freshman in March 2014 and was suppose to face four years to life however the judge in Boulder, Colorado sentenced him to 20 years probation. In an interview with the Daily Camera, Judge Patrick Butler said “I don’t know that there is any great result for anybody. Mr. Wilkerson deserves to be punished, but I think we all need to find out whether he truly can or cannot be rehabilitated.”

Piece of human garbage #2: John Enochs

He plead guilty to raping two women (the first one happened in October of 2013 and the second one happened in April of 2015) and only served one day in jail and got a year of probation. Also, even though Enochs pleaded guilty to a felony, the judge in Downers Grove, Illinois charged him with a misdemeanor instead.

Piece of human garbage #3: David Becker

Becker assaulted two female high school seniors at a house party in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts in April of 2016. He was charged with two counts of rape and one count of indecent assault and battery however, he was given two years of probation. His attorney, Thomas Rooke told Masslive “The goal of this sentence was not to impede this individual from graduating high school and to go onto the next step of his life, which is a college experience." As if he actually deserves it.

It is obvious that these men deserved a lot worst than what they got, however due to their status in society, they were just given a slap on the wrist. Let me say this loud and clear white privilege is not an excuse for rape!!!!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
