Hey, it’s Christmas! It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

But, we’re still college student living on tight budgets!

Ever wonder how the heck you’re supposed to come up with easy-to-get and actually useful white elephant gift ideas that won’t break your bank account? Don’t worry, I got you!

All the things listed below are under 10 dollars. If you’re an USC student, you can easily get them from the Trader Joe’s within walking distance from main campus!

1.Chocolate Advent Calendars ($0.99)

Who likes the excitement of counting down to Christmas?! I know I do!

What will make counting down more exciting? When you can get a piece of chocolate every day!

What’s even more exciting? When it’s only 99 cents for 24 pieces of chocolates!

This Advent calendar counts down the days left till Christmas. Each day, you peel off the date and reveal a small piece of chocolate inside! It’s not your typical plain calendar, either! It comes in four different colorful designs: cat under the tree, Santa & Mrs. Claus in their workshop with elves, kids playing in the snow, and an Adventure Board Game. Honestly, what can you ask more for only 99 cents?!

This is the gift for that friend who can’t wait for Christmas and is excited like a child!

2.It’s Sedimentary, My Dear Cookie! ($4.99)

Do you have that friend, who constantly say they’re gonna cook/bake more, but never really have time to pick up each ingredient from the store and then meticulously measure everything out? This is the perfect gift for them!

All you have to do is mixing butter and egg with the ingredients in this jar! You don’t even need to measure (well, probably except for the butter, but most butter bar has measurement printed on the package, so you really don’t need to)!

If you’re a truly good friend, besides this jar of cookie ingredients, also give them a bar of butter and an egg (maybe from your own pantry). Your wanting-to-bake friend will love you so much!

3.Cinnamon Roll Wreath ($4.99)

It’s not really Christmas until you get a wreath! You might be tempted to get a wreath as a white elephant gift. However, we all know that college students are experts at killing plants (even though I don’t think you need to do anything special for wreath?)! I, personally, have killed a pot of roses, a succulent, and am in the process of killing my money tree… Anyways, especially with winter break coming, you wouldn’t want to give your friends something they can’t take care of!

This is a fantastic gift for that friend who’s obsessed with cinnamon roll (honestly, who’s not?!), or who’s known for killing plants!

4.Peppermint Hot Chocolate ($4.99)

Now that LA is finally cold-er, it’s finally appropriate to drink hot chocolate! But wait, what if you also love tea? Especially if you need to stay up late to study for that final tomorrow? This peppermint hot chocolate is the answer for that friend who’s obsessed with hot chocolate, but also needs something refreshing to accompany them (aka. Keep them awake) through (cold) nights of studying.

5.Gingerbread House Kit ($7.99)

We may not all be architecture major, but it’s never a bad idea to give it a try at building gingerbread house. If everything else falls apart, you still get a stack of gingerbread to enjoy! In other words, you can’t fail in this project! Don’t we all need a bit of confidence booster, especially in the season of finals?

Or better yet, maybe you do have a friend who’s an architect-to-be! This would be the perfect gift for them!

Hope these foodie gift ideas can take the stress of holiday shopping off your shoulder!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
