The Whirlwind Of Thoughts During 'Hell Week'

No matter where you go to school, there comes a week in each semester known as “Hell Week”. Regardless of your major, you’re bound to experience this week sooner rather than later.

If you don't happen to know exactly what Hell Week is, it's the week each semester where it seems as if every single test and paper happens to be on the same week, normally about a month and a half into school. "Why on earth did I even think majoring in chemistry was a good idea?" and "Do I really hate myself" tend to be questions that may cross your mind on the daily basis during the week known as "Hell Week" through all colleges everywhere.

During Hell Week you go through a whirlwind of thoughts such as…

“I am going to own this week; I will show you who is boss.”

“There’s no way I can fall behind in all my work.”

“Now that I’ve written everything down, I can plan all my work for this week out.”

“THERE AREN’T ENOUGH HOURS IN A DAY TO FINISH ALL THIS WORK.”

“Okay, it’s time to take some deep breaths and breathe.”

“Maybe I can do this, maybe not. We will just hope for the best.”

“Well, it is probably closer to the time I normally would wake up for class than the time I should have gone to bed.”

“As long as I don’t cry during this test, I will count that as a win in my book.”

*Walking into the first exam* “Well, I am 100 percent glad that is done, but it’s only the beginning.”

“Guess, I should start that paper due in two days.”

"But, I can hardly keep my eyes open."

“Why do I have seven million things to do and classes on top of that?”

“I hate myself for picking all these classes torturing myself.”

“Well, I’ve written my first paragraph. I should probably study for the test I have tomorrow.”

“I can’t believe this week isn’t even halfway done. This is the slowest week of my life.”

“Wait, I still have two tests, a project, and a paper to study for and do? Why is all of this happening at the same time?”

“Why did I think majoring in _____ was ever a good idea?”

“Wait, I still have to finish my paper due tomorrow.”

"I just need to make it through."

“How is today on Wednesday. Why can’t Friday come any sooner?”

“I seriously hate myself.”

“I definitely shouldn’t skip this class, but I am so exhausted.”

"But wait, there's a lab report due tomorrow, too?"

“Well I’ve made it to Thursday. Friday really can’t be that far away.”

“Why am I still studying at 2:30 a.m.”

“Today is FRIDAY. I have never been so excited.”

“Wait, I have one more test at 10 a.m.”

Walking into the last test of the week “I WILL OWN THIS TEST, maybe.”

Walking out of the last test “I have never been so relieved for this week to be done.”

“Wait, I have one last class keeping me from the weekend.”

“But I’m so exhausted, maybe if I skip I won’t miss that much.”

“I’ll just go and suffer through.”

“Never in my life have I been so excited for 12:50 p.m. on a Friday afternoon.”

“That may have been the worst week of my life, but it’s come and gone.”

"Until next semester, we shall meet again."

"But for now, I'm free as a bird."

“Hell Week” might be the one week every college student knows and dreads. You’ll make it through, and you know it’ll be back.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
