Which Collegetown Bar is For You?

Going to Cornell means that you have a small selection of bars to choose from, and bars are one of the main social scenes on this campus.

At some point in the week between Wednesday and Sunday you will find yourself in Collegetown and most likely a bar. This is where the majority of students end up on weekends. In this article I’ll describe the different bars and their respective scenes, and you can determine out of all the options which bar seems to fit you the best.

Rulloffs - This bar is for an older crowd. This is the place to hang out with friends and have a good conversation, much more sophisticated. Don’t plan on coming here if you plan on getting crazy and messy because this is not the place. This is definitely a great place to hang out with friends and watch a game.

Level B - Usually only frequented on Wednesday nights for fishbowls, this place can get pretty rowdy at times. Definitely the closest thing we have to a club in Ithaca. With a pillar and stage placed in the middle of the dance floor, and $2 shots, this atmosphere lends itself to being one the best places to dance and let loose.

Loco- This is definitely an all or nothing place. Loco is either always packed or empty. But either way if you’re looking for a place to go out and have a crazy night, this would be it. Loco is that spot where you know you met someone at last night after you had your 5th margarita pitcher, and  you don’t remember their name.

Chapter House – One of my personal favorites, even though its mostly visited by graduate students that's what makes it so appealing. Chapter is a place that’s low key and the perfect place to go to have a few drinks with your friends. The atmosphere is great with stools around the bar, pool table in the back and live bands on Saturdays, Chapter has an amazing setting to just sit down with some popcorn, not be bothered by guys where you can just relax and talk to friends.

Dunbar’s - Dunbar’s is a place that’s almost Chapter House but not quite. They have the popcorn, the writing on the walls, and the wooden bench seats; however they are not seem the same. This is a place that you would be for you if you wanted to sing Sweet Caroline with your friends all night long with a pitcher of beer. It is a pretty popular place though for students.

Pixel - Pixel is everyone’s nightcap, somehow its location in an alley makes it a more than suitable setting for this bar. Sometimes you don’t how you got there but you are, and you end up talking to that hot TA that you’ve been eying all semester. Everyone on campus seems to end up here at the end of the night.

Well whether you’re bold or timid, quiet or loud, there is a bar in Collegetown for you! If you prefer a beer or a killer cocktail there’s a bar in Collegetown for you, assuming your over 21 of course. Although we all know that the best part of going out to bars is getting a pizza from the place next door.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
