Where's The Love?

How the Church can have a greater impact in America

Where's The Love?

The world is a messed up place. Look at all of the racial tension and shootings and anyone can see that our country is in a dark state. Innocent people are dying and making national news seemingly every day. So what is the Church doing in the midst of all of this tragedy? Not enough. One of the key concepts of the Christian faith is loving others as Jesus Christ loved us. Why aren't believers going out into the mess that is our society and trying to make it better? Essentially, where's the love?

Well, the love is busy in our churches. I've heard many believers say that the world would be a better place if everyone went to church. They're so concerned with their own community of brothers and sisters that they don't go into the wilderness and lead others to eternal salvation. Think of how ignorant that statement sounds! People get so caught up with routines and looking important in churches that they forget that they're the Church. God's chosen people. We have to remember that there are people out there that aren't saved and make them a priority in our daily lives. Believe me, I understand how nice it is to be comfortable in a situation and routine. But there is a reason we're called to be "fishers of men."

Imagine that you're a runner. When you first start, you decide to run a mile. And it's excruciating. You do this same run every day until you can finish that mile easily with no pain. But when you're exercising, what is pain? Pain is growth. Sometimes we have to persevere through discomfort to make progress. If we aren't willing to go through discomfort for somebody's sake, do we really love them? We need to have the faith necessary to know that God will take care of us when we're representing him to the fullest extent of our ability.

The Church is the body of Christ. Until Jesus returns in triumph, it's up to us to make ourselves a vessel for the Lord to work through. Are you a messenger or a bystander? It's time for the Church to make a choice. So, to all of my fellow believers, I implore you; share the love. No person can make our country great again. But God most certainly can if we'll let him.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
