In light of the horrific recent events that occurred in Nice, I've really been hit with a wave of how much pain has occurred in the world in the past year or so. It happened while I was listening to some super chill throwback music, namely "Where Is The Love" by the Black Eyed Peas. It has inspired a sort of mental wake-up call to the reality that we are living in. Nobody is safe. No place is safe. People are dying all over the world, and our generation has to grow up watching this universal hatred.
I really think that this level of bigotry and hatred needs to stop. Killing innocent human beings is not the answer to getting the rest of the world on your side. People are allowed individuality and difference of opinion and beliefs -- that's the beauty of being human, but not at the cost of someone else's life. Whether your propaganda is against people of a different race, religion, identity, sexual orientation, or what have you, killing them should never be the option. It is completely illogical for hatred against people who have a higher amount of melanin in their skin, or men who choose to love men, or people who worship a different god than yours and have different values.
All these people are human beings. These characteristics make up a person's identity. It is wrong for them to be scared for their lives because they are a minority or they are simply different from the privileged. No matter what one's identity is, no one deserves death because of who they are whether it is by nature or nurture. No innocent human being deserves to die. The world needs a whole lot more love and acceptance right now. No war ever ended in anything good, and at the current state of the world, it feels like we might be slowly progressing into another. It's like a slow zombie apocalypse, except instead of zombies, real live human beings are killing each other.

"People killin', people dyin'
Children hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach?
Or would you turn the other cheek?
Father, Father, Father help us
Send some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me questioning
Where is the love?"
