When You're Bad At The 'Party' Thing

I'm not the greatest in a college party situation.

When You're Bad At The 'Party' Thing

I've been to plenty of parties. I've had my fun, but are they exactly my cup of tea? No way. I almost always find myself annoyed, hot, and ready to leave. Here are a few thoughts girls like me have when they go to parties.

1. "I have no party clothes."

My wardrobe doesn't exactly consist of crop tops and tight skirts... would it be acceptable to wear this Old Navy dress to a party? I look like an elementary school principal.

2. "And to think I could be spending my money on food instead of THIS."

Whether it's a cover charge for a club or the price of my Uber, it is always beyond annoying to think I actually put money towards going to a party. (Probably not worth it kids.)

3. "It's as hot and smelly as the Devil's Sauna in here."

I did not sign up to come to a grease pit where everyone, including myself, is sweating 14 gallons.

4. "Everyone here looks about 16 years old."

You know as well as I do that Freshmen are the first to fill up frat houses...

5. "If one more boy approaches me like I have a price tag on my forehead, I'm going to drop kick him."

Newsflash: 90 percent of the time, girls are at parties to have fun with their girlfriends... not you.

6. "So this means I actually have to be social..."

Crap, I'd rather be in my bed with a plate of nachos and "Grey's Anatomy."

7. "How do I tell my friends I want to leave?"

This was fun at first, but I'm over it.

8. "That's it, I'm leaving. It's too loud and hot and dark."

9. "I'm in my bed and I've never been happier."

Thank the Lord.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
