When Words Don't Come Out

Sometimes, there are no words that come out; when you're writing, or talking, or trying to express whatever it is you're feeling.

This is one of those times. Week One of the Trump Administration has seen several executive orders and memorandums signed, and reading the news every morning is turning into something way too overwhelming. Reading the news every night makes it impossible to go to sleep now. But still, there are no words. So, for now, until the words come back, look at something simply beautiful. Because these things can calm the mind, the racing heart, the frozen throat, and fingers unwilling to type.

Like a blue sky:

Like flowers:

Like twinkly lights:

Like a flickering flame:

Like a very familiar eucalyptus grove:

Like science:

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots.
