When To Give Up On Your Dreams
Frank DeCristofaro

Frank DeCristofaro is a good friend of mine. He is the owner and co-host of a podcast show called Simply Sports Radio. Being a sports fan, I like to hear his opinions about sports, players and baseball. But his journey didn’t start as the sports commentator that he embodies in his show. Since early age, he was told more than twice that he did not fit into the Radio world. When he was in high school, he did not qualify to enter into a broadcast/communications school. When in the Navy and the Coast Guard, he was not allowed to work as a radio person either. Many would have just walked away and let the dream die. Not Frankie. When listening about this part of his life, I knew I wanted other people to hear about it. I realized his audacity was stronger than the voices that tried to placate his dreams. One day, not too long ago, he decided to do what many people said he couldn’t do. Seven months ago, in October of 2016, he started to broadcast his podcast. What happened to him next? This video is a candid conversation with Frankie. He speaks about his quandaries and misses and dream. Check out the advice he gives us:

1.You only live once, do not let your dreams die

I think this goes without saying. If you want your dreams to come to fruition, take the challenge. Do not be shy. Let the ideas how you want your dream to happen come to you. At the end of the day, you are the ultimate person who can stop you from realizing your dreams.

2.Take the time to do your research

As with any project, you have to put a plan in motion. In order to have a plan, you need to know what you need. In order to know what you need, you have to do a research. It’s ok if at the beginning the research takes you all over the place. Let the possibilities sink in your head. Try different outcomes and when you know how and when you can start building your project, go for it.

3.Pursuing your dreams is something that you have to want to do

Life will throw at you many distractions. Take the time and resources to invest in your dreams. Nobody else will want to achieve your dreams more than you do. Do you want to see them happen? Then want them like you mean it.

4.It is a lot of work

Successful people always sacrifice something to get where they want to be. Know it’s going to take work, make the time to make it happen and work at it every day.

5.Do not give up

When do you give up on your dream? Never! If you feel strongly about it, don’t let anybody stop you.

6.Take it to the next level

And just when you think you got the plans and started to work on it, do not get disappointed if you do not see immediate results. Learn and practice endurance. Getting to the mountain top requires patience. Breath, meditate, be positive and know that if you keep plowing you will get there.

Personally, also know that many times I expected my dreams to have a certain shape, color and size. I worked hard to make them happen and they came to pass but they were not the shape, color or size that pleased me. This doesn’t mean you didn’t succeed. It only means that we all have limited vision of what we are calling into be. Whatever it is your dream in your imagination, it takes the help of the Light to make it a reality. Be grateful for what came from the visionary realm to the physical realm. If you want something bigger and brighter, keep on building on your dream and never forget to be grateful.

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2023, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.

The winters at Kent are brutal, and while the heated sidewalks and some great snow boots are always a help, there’s no chance you won’t bust it on the ice at least once in your four plus years at school.

Christmas is literally so close. We can almost taste it. But there is just one thing standing between you and the big day: FINALS. It's not the studying, lack of sleep, last minute cram sessions or crappy food intake that is the worst... but the fact that you cannot focus because, well, CHRISTMAS. How do professors expect you to focus when Christmas is soooo soon. For all my fellow Christmas lovers out there, I feel your pain.

One of the most dreaded places on campus is the library. Nothing awesome ever happens here. Usually, the only reason you're here is because you've procrastinated so long that the library is the only place you'll actually get stuff done. It gives you this feeling of sadness and impending doom. You have no idea how this is going to go or how long you'll be here, but you do know it is about to be the most excruciating experiences yet. But it has to get done, so you drag yourself to the lovely library.

With each new year comes new goals.

Deciding on a goal can be hard, unsure of what to change for this new year. A new goal for myself is to be happier and take care of myself more. I am a very driven person; so driven that I commit to a million and ten things.
