The hardest part about growing up is trying to discover what path you are meant to take. Whether you plan to be a doctor, a teacher, or the next big TV star, you can't always be sure that your dreams will always go according to plan. Before going to college, I had my future planned out. I was to attend the University of Louisiana at Monroe to work towards my degree of becoming a dental hygienist, somehow find the person I was meant to marry in the short four-year span of college, move to a different city where I could settle down and start a family of my own all by the age of 25. Crazy how specific I was, right?
If you are anything like me, you are not the "go with the flow" type of gal. You like to have everything all planned out before it was meant to happen. Little did I know, my future plans wouldn't turn out the way I thought they would. I am now majoring in communications hoping that someday my degree will lead me to a big city, like Los Angeles, to work for a big time company, such as E! News, doing what the Lord has called me to do. Throughout the transition, I became so overwhelmed. I was having a hard time discovering what I was destined to do and where my future was headed, but because of this, I learned a few things that I think God wanted me to understand.
I learned that it is OK to not have everything all together. I learned that you still have the ability to make your dreams come true, even when you are so certain of what they are. I learned that your plans aren't always going to be what God has in mind for you. The Lord sees our potential. He sees where we will thrive and where we will do more for His Kingdom here on Earth. As His people, we are to follow where He wants us to serve. So, if you are one of those people who thinks everything is going to fall apart when things don't go according to plan, hear me out when I say this. Your life is not falling apart; it is only falling perfectly together at His perfect timing. Don't continue to stress. Enjoy your life while you still can. Allow Him to pave your path and follow it. His plan will prevail either way.
As Psalm 119:105 says, "Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path."
