The Lord's recently been reiterating the idea of going into "deep waters" and "drawing my doubt" in Him. It's been brought up over and over these past few days and I've been sitting, listening and resting in Him.
The Lord brought you into deep waters because your doubt can't drown on dry land.
Hillsong United recently released an album, of Dirt and Grace, full of live performances, some of which they performed in Israel. One favorite in particular was 'Oceans.' They performed on the Sea of Galilee, the place where Jesus walked. It's a powerful song to listen to, and one that has been resonating with me like it never has before.
I've heard so many say you're a "cliche Christian" if you love that song, but I truly believe those people don't hear what the lyrics are asking God to do.
Spirit lead me where my trust is without boarders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever you would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior
The song is a prayer to the Lord that He would call you out of the comfort and safety of the boat and walk on water. Walk on faith.
“Lord, is it You?” Peter asked. “If it is, tell me to come to you on the water.”
“Come,” Jesus said.
So Peter got out of the boat. He walked on the water toward Jesus. - Matthew 14:28-2
Are you willing to get out of the boat? To get out where your trust is without boarders? The weight of that line is so strong because that means you give your life to the Lord with a reckless abandonment. When you pray that you'll go wherever the Lord calls you, are you wiling to go to any corner of this globe? Places that are far from the safety of your boat?
But your faith will be made stronger. That's His promise. You'll never grow if you stay in the same environment. You'll never grow if you live your whole life in that boat.
The Lord calls you out upon the waves, not to let you drown but to cleanse you, grow you, teach you, and to drown your doubt.
Because who better to walk to than the one who commands the waves?
I pray, as you go throughout this week, that you'll get out of your boat, whatever that may be. Your feet may fail but your faith will stand.
