Why You Need To Slow Down

Do you ever just have something happen to you and all you can think is "Why me?" Let me tell you, you're not alone. Whether it is an injury, a loved one passing, or even just a bad day, these things can affect us in so many ways. While these things often can get us down and thinking negatively, have you ever thought if maybe there is more to what you are facing. Maybe, just maybe God is trying to teach you something during this time.

One of my biggest problems is to live a fast paced life. I don't mean always going but always thinking about what's next and how I am going to do it. I find myself a lot forgetting to just simply enjoy life and even more so the one who created it.

I believe often times when things happen in our life that God is trying to tell us to slow down. When we are faced with difficult situations we are in the perfect spot to experience Christ in an amazing way. We must remember during these times to slow down. Quit worrying about all the other things you have to do and all the other people around you. Stop in the moments of every day and live there and slow down. When life happens and we would rather just moan and cry we would be better off to spend our time reading the bible or listening to a sermon or even just worshiping our God. When we slow down in the difficult times of life we are able to see a bigger picture. We are able to see that what we face is nothing compared to who we are and what we have in Christ. God puts us in the perfect positions to speak to us and to move in our lives. We only have to slow down, be still, and listen for His voice.

Scripture tells us many times to be still, and to rest in the Lord. There are times when Christ even commands nature to be still. These are all times when great things had happened or were about to happen. I hope what I am about to say encourages you. BE STILL, SLOW DOWN, REST IN THE LORD. These moments of sorrow and disappointment are the moments God is about to breakthrough in your life. READ YOUR BIBLE. GROW. You are in the perfect position to be used and I promise if you are just willing, God WILL move in and use you.

Psalm 46:10“Be still, and know that I am God.I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!"

Psalm 37:7"Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices!"

Psalm 62:5"For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him."

Mark 4:39"And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm."

Philippians 4:6 "do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God."

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
