As Christians, we go through many trials. Whether familial, financial or anything else, there are many times we can feel like all hope is lost. Where do we turn during our times of trial? What do we do when all of our hope is seemingly gone?
This is something that I frequently struggle with. There are times (more than I'm proud of) where I just feel so hopeless. Of course, I know that there is still hope. I know that God loves me, that it's not the end, but sometimes the feeling is just inevitable.
I have discovered that when I feel this way, it's good to not be alone. Isolation often has a damaging effect. You have thoughts of despair that you otherwise would not have. There are two solutions to this problem.
The first solution is fairly simple — surround yourself with people who love you. Knowing that you are safe, that you are with people who care about you, can be a very effective way of avoiding despair. It also helps if those who you are with love God as well. Having a solid, Christian support system during times of hopelessness can make a very large difference.
The other solution is even better than the first — talk to God! Whether through prayer, worship music or Bible reading, spending quality time with our Heavenly Father can and will make all the difference in the world. Even when it seems that no one is there for you, our Lord is. A key thing to remember when going through times of hopelessness is that God loves you so much that He died for you, and saved you from a fiery eternity. Psalm 3:3-6 says, "But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. I call out to the Lord, and he answers me from his holy mountain. I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me. I will not fear though tens of thousands assail me on every side."
Yes, there are times of hopelessness during our walk with God, but He loves us and will protect us through the bad times. We serve an awesome God, and our trials will be worth it in the end
