Congratulations new girls, you've made it.
After long excruciating days of having the same conversations at 12 different houses, you made it. Finding your home for the next four years is a big deal, but what do you do after the original buzz has faded? The night of bid day you receive copious amounts of friend request and facebook notifications. But how do you keep this feeling of excitement alive once the semester sets in?
Get Involved. This is the single most important thing to do after you join a sorority. Whether it's community service or a social event, get involved. You will always have something to do, even when you are sometimes busy enough as it is. You will never be the only one wanting to go out or stay in and do homework. Be sure to jump at all the opportunities to meet more sisters so it is easier to create relationships. Hiking, brunches and study dates are great ways to get to know more of your sisters.
Philanthropy events are a great with to get involved and meet new people. Take a trip to your philanthropy cause and see what it's all about. This is a great bonding experience with sisters because it is a common ground for everyone. Also, participating in other organizations philanthropy events is a great way to make connections outside of your sorority.
Always remember that your sisters are there for a reason. You will always have someone to lean on when times get tough, and you will always have someone to be your partner in crime. In my sorority, I have found my bridesmaids. Just hang in there and make as many connections while you can. Take advantage of being in a sorority and use it for all it's worth.
