What's the Deal With the Starbucks Cups?
Star

As if anyone needed another reason to love Starbucks, they went above and beyond this year. In the midst of this crazy election, Starbucks released ‘community’ cups AKA the green cups. Now I know not everyone cares about what their caramel macchiato is served to them in, but the timing and reasoning behind these cups are perfect. They are now introducing the holiday cups for this year, and let's just say that the artsy designs have much bigger meaning than meets the eye.

If you haven’t noticed already, Starbucks has gotten rid of their green cups and welcomed the annual holiday ones. Customers were angry and under the impression that the green cups were, in fact the holiday cups, but in reality ,Starbucks had a much bigger plan. They wanted to show the community and togetherness that society needs to take part in.

Each cup had a drawing of over a 100 different people, all in one sketch. For the non-artsy people, the illustrator did not pick up his hand while drawing these, so everyone is connected. Baristas, customers, any type of person you could imagine, they’re represented, showing how we can all stand together.

The holiday cups are even more community based. The drawings on the cups were drawn by actual customers last year. They started out as doodles, but Starbucks loved the idea of getting the public engaged and involved. The intricate designs are getting more love than ever before.

I know this is just coffee, but the little things make the hard times better for everyone. This is just the reminder we need to be more accepting of people, because really, we're all in the same boat. Thanks for thinking of the community first, Starbucks.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
