This past weekend I had spent my days in New Hampshire hiking in the White Mountains with my senior class. Being 100% honest, hiking is not for me. It’s a lot of climbing and rigor and you have to be energized in order to do it. I, for one, am always ready for a nap and lack endurance when it comes to hiking in the woods. I did, however, manage to have a great weekend with my friends and am glad I challenged myself to something new. When it came to packing there are a few items I wish I had packed and some things I wish I had prepared myself for better.
1. Make sure your shoes fit.
My hiking shoes fit a little big with regular ankle socks on because I thought giving extra space for warm socks would be a good move. It’s not.
2. Bath wipes
I thought face wipes would do it all but once again my bad judgment chimed in and they, in fact, cannot do it all.
3. Bring an extra beanie
Thinking that one would be enough is never the case. Who knew doubling up on beanies would have been the look?
4. Camera
I didn't bring a camera or my phone (because I wanted to disconnect) and I wish I had because it was so beautiful. The foliage was so fantastic I can’t even put it into words.
5. Medicine
I cannot stress this enough. I got the worst cold the night we arrived and I truly thought I was going to pass out while hiking the next two days. A DayQuil would have been prime and I didn't really need Nyquil since falling asleep was not an issue I had.
