What You Love When At Home

Everyone just needs to get away.

That breath you take after your last class on the day you leave for break is the best feeling in the entire world. Even if the break is only a few days long, you take full advantage of it. Whether it's seeing your friends from your hometown or high school, spending time with your family, or just watching Netflix for hours straight (my personal fave), it makes you feel like a brand new you. However, there are some very specific things that make your break a million times better.

  1. Your own bed
I don’t know about anyone else, but the first thing I do is jump onto my bed. There is nothing like coming home to neatly made bed (thanks, Mom). It is definitely a comfort of being at home for the weekend.

  2. Home cooked meals
There is nothing like real food after a long couple of weeks of eating crappy cafeteria food. This is such a luxury, take advantage of it and have a steak.

  3. Watching your favorite shows on a couch
Missed the last episode of "The Bachelor in Paradise" or the premiere of "Grey's Anatomy" twelfth season because you've been studying your ass off? No worries! Just go to your DVR at home, grab some popcorn, and sit on a real couch. (Best part: You get to slouch without back pain

  4. Your pet greeting you
I may not have my own dog but I’m very close with all of my neighbors’ dogs. (I mean, that's like having your own pet, right?) But having your best friend come to the door and love you is a feeling no one can get over.

  5. Your own bed
I really don’t think I can get past this one. There is no way to describe how it feels like to sleep in your own bed.

  6. Not having to do your own laundry
Everyone must admit that they wait for a good pile of dirty clothes to build up and then they bring it home. You then probably ask your mom or dad very nicely if they could do it for you, and they cave.

  7. Being able to drive
Nothing is like being behind the wheel with really good music blasting from your speakers. (This is for you people without a car on campus.)

  8. Your own bed
This really is one of the best things. No doubt. You cannot deny it.

  9. Being able to relax with friends and family
Just being able to relax with your friends and family, without having to worry about any schoolwork. Being able to tell your friends all of the stories.

All of these things put you in a better mood, so when your mom or dad leaves you back at school, you know you're ready to conquer the world. Ultimately, every break is a way for you to reset for the next couple of weeks. And just think: Thanksgiving is only about a month away. (That's when the really good home cooked food comes out!) Just a few short days of no school can really bring you back, ready to start over, and kill the rest of the semester.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
