If you live in the northeast part of the country, then you are familiar with the heavenly grocery store Wegmans. Compared to other grocery stores, Wegmans is in a league of its own. From the cheese shop to the floral department to the amazing prepared food, this mega-store is at the top of its game.
This past year, I got the opportunity to work for this amazing company as a cashier in their Mount Laurel store. I was finally going to be a part of this amazing company, and I couldn't wait to start.
During my first month with the company, I was taught how to work the cash register, handle money and greet the customers. While those are all important skills to learn as a cashier, one other thing I was taught really stuck out to me. The "Who We Are Values" are what I believe sets Wegmans apart from any other grocery store in the country.
What We Believe:
"At Wegmans, we believe that good people, working toward a common goal, can accomplish anything they set out to do." Wegmans as a company recognized that for the customers to have the best experience possible, they need to be met with exceptional employees. They meet the needs of their employees so we can meet the needs of the customers. The saying "every day you get our best" is on our name tags, and I feel that is absolutely true.
Who We Are:
Care, high standards, making a difference, respect and empower are the values that Wegmans takes into consideration. They care about every person that enters their store, employee or customer. The high standards they set are a way of making sure everyone understands that Wegmans strives for excellence in every aspect.
What We Do:
"Our target customers are people who are looking for great food, incredible service and a one-of-a-kind shopping experience." One goal of Wegmans is to help create healthy food that is easy to make and tastes great. By providing our customers with the resources for healthy meals at a low cost, we are able to grow our loyal customer base. Wegmans partners with local farms to bring in fresh, locally grown produce so the customers can have the best quality food possible.
As a whole, I loved my experience while working at Wegmans. Every single employee I came in contact with was extremely friendly and always willing to help out others. I learned that going to a job that you love really doesn't feel like work at all. I would look forward to going to work and getting the opportunity to brighten people's days. I learned that it is not a bad thing to strive to be the best in every aspect of life. It is easy to make a difference in someone's day by smiling or asking if they found everything they needed. Being a cashier at Wegmans was the best job I have had so far, and I would recommend it to anyone who is willing to work hard and have fun.
