Going into High School I really did not know what to expect, I was filled with fear and excitement. We all have things we wish we would have known in High School and I am going to share some of my lessons. Throughout High School I experienced love, heartbreak, jealousy, peer pressure, and most importantly I found myself. Here's how...

1. Your friends are temporary.

If you are in High School right now or maybe you are like me and are a High School graduate I bet you thought that your friends would be there forever. Maybe you even thought that they would be your future bridesmaids. Chances are, you probably will not even speak to them after graduation.

2. YOUR GPA DOES MATTER!

Try your best in every single one of your classes because if you don't then you might find yourself throwing away your dream college because your grades aren't where they should be.

3. Popularity isn't worth it.

For some reason in High School it seems like the end of the world if you aren't popular. However, I am here to say that it is not worth it! Be yourself and don't change who you are for anyone.

4. Who said high school is the best times of your life?

High School is not the best times of your life, it's actually quite horrible. Don't worry you'll get through it and college is so much better.

5. High school doesn't prepare you for college.

Make sure you go above and beyond with your "easy" work so you can prepare yourself for college.

6. Jealousy kills!

Jealously is so real and it will happen (specifically for girls). You will lose friends due to this because of popularity, guys, silly drama, etc. Do not let it get to you!

7. Find yourself and focus on who you wan't to be.

Do not get caught up in silly drama or things you can't change. Always remember that you can't help people who don't want to be helped. Just figure out who you are, your personal talents, and strengths. This will help you thrive in college and in future jobs.

8. High school is what you make of it.

Make the most out of your time in High School. Right now you are probably thinking how? Yes, I mentioned some scary things and probably made it sound horrible. However, at the end of the day life is what you make of it. You have the option to avoid drama, jealously issues, popularity contest, and investing so much time in temporary friends. The advantage of what you can get out of High School, remember why you are there, don't dwell on the worse things, and avoid all the negatives. Life will always have its ups and downs.

9. Don't give too many second chances.

If someone shows you their true colors the first time, believe them. Definitely don't invest too much time and energy into those people who are going to turn out to be so temporary. It will hurt so go with your gut. If you don't have a good feeling about the person from the start, stay away. Stick to the people that you know will stand by you.

10. There will be many temptations and peer pressure.

Don't let it get to you! Even if you have to stand out because you're the only one not participating in those acts. I am here to say, it is alright! Stand out, be different, and NEVER do anything you don't want to do. You'll be surprised by how many people do the same because they see you saying "no!"

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
