“American Horror Story: Hotel” is finally here. It’s time for terrifying characters, amazing acting and… Lady Gaga! After what most fans agreed as the worst season to date, Freak Show, finally tucked away, we all have high hopes for Hotel. Now that the first episode has officially aired and (some) questions have been answered with what’s in store, let’s get our hopes up. This is what we NEED to put our favorite show back on track. **Warning! Spoilers!!**
1. A Better Story Line: Let’s face it… As amazing of a concept Coven was, the story got a little messy towards the end of the season. And I don’t want to talk about the lack of a linear plot in Freak Show. There hasn’t been one solid arching storyline since Murder House in season one. It gets difficult with an ensemble cast with a multitude of talented actors to focus on. The premiere episode gave very little clues as to what the story will actually consist of. Please gives these incredible actors a solid story to work with, Ryan Murphy. And don’t kill off our favorite characters early (R.I.P Twisty the Clown).
2. Lady Gaga Actually Acting Well: I am one of the biggest Gaga fans out there and because I love her so much I feel comfortable exclaiming this bold phrase… Lady Gaga is not a good actress. Her two other major acting roles in “Machete Kills” and “Sin City: A Dame To Kill For” were both extremely over the top campy. I think Murphy, however, has solved the riddle on how to fit Gaga into the AHS puzzle. He stated in an interview with EW.com that Gaga’s character is meant to pay homage to the silent film era. He seems to know exactly what Gaga will bring to Hotel: out of this world fashion spectacle, a devoted fan base, and phenomenal one-liners. With an ensemble cast so strong, making her a visual character without much dialogue is absolute genius. Don’t make the world retire the phrase “YAS GAGA” to “WHY GAGA” after this season is over.
3. A Cameo from Jessica Lange: It almost doesn't feel like “American Horror Story” without the shows reigning queen, Jessica Lange. Luckily this season has an extremely strong ensemble cast to make up for the loss. This doesn’t mean that Lange can’t come back! Many of her characters can qualify for Murphys crossover concept. Who wouldn’t want to see Lady Gagas Countess go face to face with Sister Jude? That’s WWE worthy.
4. Crossovers Between Other Seasons: When Ryan Murphy announced that all of the seasons are somehow connected every fans brain basically exploded. What could this possibly mean?! It was finally answered directly when we were given an entire episode during Freak Show dedicated to Asylums favorite character, Pepper. We have already seen our first crossover just during the premiere episode of Hotel. Did you catch it? The real estate agent, Marcy, showed both the Harmons their new house in Murder House and made an appearance in Hotel as the same character. These are the Easter Eggs that us fans live for. More, please!
5. Not a Copy of Murder House: Something that was extremely noticeable after watching the first episode of Hotel was how incredibly similar it is to Murder House. Sure, the overall concept is vastly different but the main themes seem to be exact copies. The most obvious is the fact that there are ghosts haunting the halls. We saw how a couple of characters died within the hotel in years past, yet they are still there. Hm… seems like trapped ghosts to me. And there is a new Rubber Man?! Sure, this Rubber Man is in a white suit but he still has the main intention of having sex without the victim knowing who they are. Let’s be a little more creative Murphy… Hotel is an interesting topic, make it different from what we’ve seen so far!
6. As much Sarah Paulson as Possible: Now that Jessica Lange isn’t around to give power-driven monologues and spit fire, there is room for a new horror queen to take over. This crown should easily be passed down to Sarah Paulson. She has been on the show since Murder House and has created some of the most diverse characters yet. She is a phenomenal actress and can carry a scene unlike many on the show. Can we officially give her the throne and start bowing like we did for Lange?
Some other ideas to make Hotel the best season yet:
1. More Evan Peters. And after talking to other fans, we want more of Evan Peters. Give the audience what they want, if you know what I mean.
2. Please never let Kathy Bates utter another word in that awful Philadelphia accent from Freak Show. No one wants that again. Ever.
3. Bring back Stevie Nicks. She would make a perfect guest in this freak hotel, right?
4. Somehow put Gaga in the meat dress. It's far fetched, but I think the Internet would combust.
5. A crossover between "American Horror Story:Hotel" and "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody". All we need is for Mr. Mosby to yell at Angela Bassett for running in his lobby to really make this the most iconic show in history.
Ryan Murphy, follow these ideas and season five of “American Horror Story: Hotel” could very possibly be the best yet. It has all the ingredients, so please just don’t overdo it! Oh, and did I mention bring back Jessica Lange? I think we all unanimously agree with this thought. So. Make it happen. What do you need from AHS to put Hotel at the top of your list?
