So for anyone who doesn’t know this, Zach Galifianakis, funny man from the "Hangover," "Due Date" and a plethora of other different films, has lost some weight. He was first seen with the noticeable weight loss at an event for his upcoming film, “Birdman.” When asked about the dramatic drop in pants size the actor joked to an E News reporter saying, “I’m dying.” I say joke so no one gets worried that he’s actually dying. You want to know the real reason on how he became so skinny? Now this might make all college students go into an anaphylactic shock when say this. The reason behind it: he quit drinking. Yes. Quit drinking. I know what you’re thinking; “What the f---!” Crazy I know, but believe it or not drinking makes you fat and get that beer belly everyone talks about. It’s not healthy and is a lot of added calories to a person’s diet. So if any college student is thinking about losing some weight, getting rid of that freshman 100, then try not drinking and I assure you, you will see change.
Now I know that this isn’t really an option for a lot of college students because, let’s face it, we all like to drink; but it’s always good to cut back. There are also other alternatives to losing weight if there’s no way you’re stopping. Actually go to the gym and run on the treadmill for more than 10-15 minutes and leave. Or eat healthy food and not Trujillo’s? Ok… took it too far. Maybe not eat Trujillo’s everyday. Or do something fun and active such as hiking. Work on that beach bod and play some beach volleyball. I totally recommend that sport because it is brutal and loads of fun. I myself struggle with my weight, so you know what I do? I go to the gym and am there for two hours sometimes, an hour and 30 minutes at the least. I try to be healthy and not eat such fattening foods even though there are way more fatty food options than healthy. I go hiking, kayaking, I play volleyball. It’s hard at first, but when you get in the swing of things the results will show.
If you want to show some change and reveal the new and healthy you like Mr. Galifianakis, then be the change! Be the change that you want to see in your life. Work hard and then play hard at the end. It’s all going to be more than worth it. Stop the stress/late night munching. Push yourself and truly be the happy person you want to be. I’m not saying go to the extreme, nor am I saying that in order to be happy you have to be fit, but just be healthy. Cheerios honestly could not have said it better: “Be happy. Be healthy.” Be Zach Galifianakis! Did I mention he also said to the E! News reporter that he is so happy with where his life’s at right now? Well he is. He’s a proud father and finally healthy. So go out there and work, work, work.
