Everyone has lost a loved one whether it is sudden or expected, it is never an easy thing to go through. However, if you are fortunate enough to have your loved ones with you today then do not take that for granted. Never let a day go by where you do not tell them how much you love them. I have to live my whole life without knowing my dad and this is something I have struggled with over half of my life. With that being said, through the process, I have learned that God has a reason for all things. The Lord knows what is best for us. If you are reading this and you struggle with the lost of a loved one just know that you are not alone. I hope this message helps. Here are ten things I would tell my dad if I could.

1. I miss you

There is not a day that goes by where I do not think about you.

2. I love you

Although I never got the chance to know you, I still have an overwhelming love for you in my heart.

3. Apparently, I am just like you

I look like you and act like you so you must have been a pretty awesome dude. I remind several people of you and I am glad that I can be a small part of you.

4. I will make you proud

I have big plans for my life and I will stop at nothing to fulfill them. I am very stubborn (I think I get that from you) and will not allow anyone to get in the way of my dreams.

5. I am naming my son after you

I made up my mind years ago that someday, there will be another Curtis running around. Hopefully, he will turn out to be at least half of the man you were.

6. I know you are watching over me

You are my guardian angel and I sure am glad.

7. I cannot wait to meet you

I will see you in Heaven someday where there will be no more pain or sorrow. I know you are in a good place and I will be there with you. God willing several years from now.

8. I do wonder

Sometimes I wonder what life would be like if you were here. I remember asking where my dad was when I was three years old and when I was told the truth, I did not understand. Honestly, I will never understand why you were taken from us at such a young age but they say the good die young.

9. I get sad

I am sad that I will someday have to tell my kids that they will never get to meet their grandad but God has a plan for everything.

10. You would have been a great dad

I am completely convinced that you would have been a fantastic dad. I know that if you were here I would be hunting and fishing with you all the time.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
