"Finding Nemo" was a blockbuster, an instant classic and a long-time favorite for many. You would think it might be quite difficult to follow up with the sequel, "Finding Dory." However, here are five reasons why you should be beyond excited for when it hits theaters this June.
1. It's a stand-alone film.
Usually you would have to see the previous films in order for a sequel to make sense. But that's not the case here. While it is the same concept and has some of the same characters as "Finding Nemo," this movie has its own plot and even new characters as well. It's not about finding Nemo again, it's all about finding Dory this time.
2. It's starring everyone's favorite fish.
Out of all the characters in "Finding Nemo," it truly made sense to focus on Dory for another film. So many fans of the original love her, and she has the most potential for a story because of her memory loss and lack of identity. There are a lot of questions about Dory and her past that will finally be answered and that alone is reason enough to be excited.
3. It's from the creators of "Finding Nemo."
If you loved "Finding Nemo," but you're also worried that a sequel might ruin it, let this be some comfort to you - Andrew Stanton, the chief director of "Finding Nemo," returned in the same position to create "Finding Dory." And Ellen DeGeneres is back to give Dory the wonderful voice and personality we know and love. Because of this, you can be sure that the kind of humor, adventure and heart that was in "Finding Nemo," will certainly be found in this movie as well.
4. It's a Pixar film.
This isn't just any movie production company; it's Pixar, who has brought you classics like "Toy Story," "Monsters Inc." and "The Incredibles." In addition, Pixar holds the idea that if the sequel is not better than or as good as the original, then they will make changes or even cancel the film if necessary. Pixar sincerely cares about the quality of their films and so you can be sure this will be their very best work.
5. It's most likely to be the movie of the summer.
If "Finding Dory" is anything like the original search for Nemo, this will be the hit movie of the summer. So be sure that you don't miss it and mark your calendars for June 17. "Finding Dory" will be swimming into theaters before you know it.
