6 Things To Do With Your Significant Other In STL
Personal

Saint Louis is filled with anything and everything you could ever need or want. And during the holidays it might even double in opportunities to do fun things. Below are a list of things me and my boyfriend want to do or have done that I would recommend to any couple or group of friends.

1. See The Lights

There are many places to see the lights in the Saint Louis area and depending on where you both live you can pick which is the closest for you both. In the Wentzville, Missouri area, Rotary park has one of the best drive-through light shows at a fairly low price.

In O'Fallon, MO there is Fort Zumwalt park with a slightly smaller set of lights than Rotary park, but also for a low price. And finally the two downtown STL light spots, Tilles Park as well as the Anheuser Busch lights where you can also rent a fire pit to warm up with after the viewing of the lights.

2. Ice Skating

There are two places I am familiar with for iceskating, while sadly the rink at The Meadows in Lake Saint Louis is not up again this year, in Wentzville, the Lindenwood ice rink does open skating throughout the season. The large, outdoor, downtown rink that is worth every penny is the Steinberg Skating Rink. This ice rink is all about the Christmas spirit and will make you feel like you're in a movie.

3. Bake Cookies

A much cheeper, yet still fun idea to get in the Christmas spirit with your love. Grab some sweats and turn on the music and get to baking with a Pintrest recipe or a bagged mix and some colorful icing and have a bake off with one another. Cookies are one of my favorite things during this time of year, probably because I despise gingerbread.

4. See A Game

For less "Christmasy" ideas, seeing a Blues game would be really fun no matter how much or little you or your partner knows about hockey. They have a bunch of giveaway games and you can really make a day of going to the game and hitting up some good food places. Nosebleed seats are NOT bad and ARE super cheap.

(the super cute pic at the top is me and my boy after a blues game during golden hour when I forced him to retake a picture we had already taken)

5. Ride A Bird

This is personally on my to-do list this winter, most likely in combination with a few other things to make a whole trip out of a few events. These scooters are easy to find, ride and fund. I can only imagine the type of race that would occur between an extremely competitive couple... I will have to let you know how that goes.

6. See The Art

If you live in Saint Louis and haven't been to the Art Museum, 1. I am disappointed and 2. you need to go now. Its free to go to and could take a lot of time out of your day to spend with your partner. It's always interesting, to me at least, to see other people's reaction to the pieces. I am no art major, however, I do have a deep love for this place and think everyone needs to get yelled at for getting too close to the art at least once.

I hope you these suggestions have been useful for you and helped to broaden ideas of what to do during this time at home for the holidays.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
