Since the beginning of sharing things on the internet, people have had an addiction to pet videos. Whether it's a dog gently holding an egg in its mouth, or owners spooking a cat with a cucumber, the internet loves seeing animals doing adorably funny things.
The latest doggy trend taking the internet by storm is no exception!
In what's being called the "What the Fluff Challenge", pet owners will stand in a doorway as their unsuspecting pooch watches on. The owner will then proceed to lift a blanket over their head once or twice before dropping the blanket to the floor and running off—making it appear as though they have vanished into thin air.
The trend seems to have started with a video of a Siberian Husky by the name of Jax reacting to his owner doing the trick. In the video, uploaded to YouTube on June 20th of this year, Jax's owner stands behind a white blanket, before running off to hide. Jax takes a long, puzzled pause before scurrying off to look for his best friend. Since the original upload date, YouTube now comes up with over 130,000 search results related to the "What the Fluff Challenge".
Once the human is gone, the animal hilarity ensues.
Dogs have expressed a wide range of emotions from shock, to upset crying, to downright apathy. But regardless of the reaction we always seem to get a kick out of it. Watching dogs react to a simple trick with such bafflement tickles our funny bone and leaves us wanting more. As a result, many have even started testing out their own dogs with the blanket trick.
And dogs aren't the only ones getting in on the fun!
With just as many cat lovers as there are dog lovers out there, it's only natural that our feline companions get subjected to trending pranks, too. Cat owners have begun trying the "What the Fluff Challenge" on their furry friends. Interestingly, cats have shown just as much diversity in reactions as dogs have! That must mean that cats love us more than we may think!
Have you tried this challenge on your pet?
How does your pet take to the "What the Fluff Challenge"? Is he scared senseless? Or does he not care at all? The only way to find out is to grab a blanket and get to the pranking! Just be sure to give old Fido lots of pets afterward for his brief moment of distress!
