What Your Summer Song Says About You

Summer is here and the living is e-a-s-y, am I right? And, as the weather heats up, so should your summer playlist. Whether you are playing your favorite song in the car, blasting poolside or on one of your many summertime adventures, summer is always marked by some great songs. So, whether you're a country music fan or prefer top 40 pop hits, here's what your favorite summer jam says about your personality:

1. Long Hot Summer by Keith Urban: This may be your favorite song because whenever you listen to it, you can practically smell the bonfire and bug spray. You are enjoying a stereotypical summer with your feet up on the dash and the wind blowing through the car windows. Or maybe you're just dreaming about it, but either one will do.

2. Surfin' U.S.A. by The Beach Boys: If this is your favorite summer song, you are most likely spending your summer having backyard barbecues where you toss around beach balls and dance the night away to the glow of tiki torches. You may even be packing up your bathing suit and hitting the beach for some waves. Have fun with your "bushy bushy blond hairdo."

3. Hot in Herre by Nelly: If "I was like, good gracious a** bodacious" doesn't bring back memories for you, you probably never went to a middle school dance. It's getting hot out aka it's getting hot in herre, really what's the difference? If Nelly's hit takes the number one spot on your summer playlist, chances are you are avoiding people from high school and binge-watching the Step Up movies on Netflix.

4. Springsteen by Eric Church: You are most likely spending your summer covering the bed of a truck with pillows so you can watch the stars with your summer fling. You have a soft spot for the lovey-dovey country music and frankly who can blame you? Don't forget to toss your cooler in the back of the truck before you drive down to the lake.

5. Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen: "You threw a wish in the well", and looks like it came true! If this song tops the summer charts for you, chances are you are enjoying the hot sun while waiting for some phone calls from a summer crush. Make sure to rotate while you wait; you don't want to turn into a lobster.

6. California Gurls by Katy Perry (ft. Snoop Dogg): Chances are you're still living in 2010, and that's totally okay in my book. How can you go wrong with ice cream cone bras and cotton candy clouds? You are probably spending your summer sitting by the pool and making healthy "ice-pops." But whatever you do, don't let your sun-kissed skin melt your popsicle.

7. Margaritaville by Jimmy Buffett: You're likely spending your summer drinking $2 margaritas at your local bar of choice. *WARNING* If you get the fish bowl, the Swedish Fish are not friends, they are indeed food. But hey, it is five o'clock somewhere, so bottoms up! At the very least, you're probably wearing a cute Hawaiian lei, so it all works out.

8. I Knew You Were Trouble by Taylor Swift: "Once upon a time, a few mistakes ago" could possibly be your life motto. You are spending your summer one of two ways: re-kindling a flame with an ex while you're home on vacation (never a good idea, IMO) or finding a new bad boy (also never a good idea, but let's be real, we all do it). As my girl T-Swift says, "trouble, trouble, trouble."

9. The Hills by The Weeknd: Congratulations, you are probably spending your summer jamming out to Top 40 radio or dancing to the club remix on an exciting night out. Even more kuddos to you if you actually know what this song means—because you quite possibly may be the only one. You can touch, just don't feel, cause it's half past five? Say what?

10. Trap Queen by Fetty Wap: 1738. I'm like hey wassup, get out. If this is your favorite song, the summer will probably end before you even realize it happened. Being able to remember how you spent your break isn't necessarily a bad thing. One shot, two shots, three shots, more, four shots, five shots, six shots, floor.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
