Summer is everyone's favorite season. But if you asked me about autumn, winter, and spring I would say the exact same thing. I personally just love every single season equally for completely different reasons. Since summer has just arrived, I figured I would kick it off with my favorite things about the season. Here's why I love summer.
No school.
This is an obvious one. As a future teacher, though, this is super important to me. Summer is really the only reason I chose to be a teacher. I'm kind of kidding. Having no school rocks because I don't have to worry about deadlines, tests, waking up early, packing a lunch, or having piles and piles of work galore.
Lake days.
There is always an opportunity to jump into my swimsuit, drive out to the lake and get a sunburn with some amazing friends. I love lake days because they're relaxing, but also very eventful all rolled up into one.
Jeepin'.
My family got a jeep last summer. It's a blast. There is nothing better than blaring my favorite music and cruising around.
Going riding.
On a perfect night, people will get together with their four wheelers and ride until after sunrise most of the time. The way we do it is actually illegal but what's life without breaking the law?
Late nights.
After long days at work, the lake, or just laying around, getting to hang out with friends is the best. Whether we're driving around until two in the morning, sitting around a fire, or playing some type of card game, late nights are the best. These are the type of nights that lead to hysterical laughing, overeating the best type of food, and sometimes even tears. Late nights are the kind everyone always wishes they could relive over and over again.
Netflix.
My parents hate me for this, but my absolute favorite thing about summer is that there are endless hours of binge watching different things on Netflix. Last summer it was Grey's Anatomy, but my newest obsession is Orange Is the New Black. I'm not sure what I'll watch next.
Frozen pizza and Kool-Aid.
My whole life, summer lunches have always been frozen pizza and Kool-Aid. It's easy. It's delicious. There is no losing. You know how people sometimes refer to times in the past by a smell they remember? To me, summer smells like frozen pizza and Kool-Aid.
The Fourth of July.
Fireworks, glow sticks, camping, s'mores. What more can I say?
Happiness.
Summer is just plain happiness. I love summer because I always end up making new, lifelong friends in the summer. I love how the sun comes up early and goes down late. I love to live and make memories, and summertime is when I have the most freedom to do just that. That's pure happiness.
