What Should I Do Over Spring Break?

One week. That's all we get. One week to soak up the sun and breathe before dragging ourselves back into classrooms. My friends and I want to get the most of this oh-so-short of a break, and here are some of our ideas:

1. Go to an amusement park!

Wherever you live, there's got to be an exciting place to go. For us, it's Six Flags Magic Mountain. Now, it's a bit of a drive but the drive is fun! Rock out to some tunes — or if you're like my friends and I, quote Disney Channel original movies. (I swear we're adults.)

2. Photo shoot!

Now, I'm lucky that I have a friend who is a professional photographer, but she asked me to model for her advertisements. How fun would it be to just get some props, fix up your hair and makeup and do a photo shoot with your friends? You don't need some hundred dollar camera, just use your phones. You can even do a variety of themes too. Then, cover your social media with the photos when you're done. (Use the hashtag #SpringDreams2016 so I can see the wonderful ideas you all come up with!)

3. Food Party!

So, how about you get a bunch of recipes, go grocery shopping, and then cook and eat all day? Sound like a blast to me. Feel free to get a little crazy with it too, try new recipes from new cultures. (I suggest trying Ethiopian food... Injera bread is amazing!) After you've cooked everything, settle in for noms while watching Netflix, or getting that movie you've been wanting to see from Redbox.

4. Go to the beach!

Seems obvious right? If you're not into the party crowd, then maybe go to a local lake for the day. Have a picnic, set up a volleyball net and have some fun. You don't have to be wild to have a good time. On the other hand, if you love the party scene and consider yourself an extrovert, then by all means. There are sure to be tons of parties on the shore that you can join.

5. Pamper yourself.

This week, you'll have no morning classes and no assignments due at midnight, so treat yourself to a good rest. Sit in bed all day reading that book you haven't had time for because of class. Take a bubble bath. Draw something. (I find watercolor to be very therapeutic.) Get an adult coloring book and a huge set of colored pencils and just breathe. Or, you can go get yourself pampered. Get your nails done, get a massage and a haircut. If you're feeling bold, go get that tattoo you've been drawing in the margins of every page of lecture notes or dye your hair because you can.

6. Get your life together.

This one is a bit more responsible (eww, adulting), but maybe spend one of these days cleaning your living space up. Clean your bathroom, and wash that pile of laundry. Maybe even reorganize the furniture set up. For tips on how to declutter, I like the book "Spark Joy" by Marie Kondo. She breaks everything down really well with illustrations. It's pretty mind blowing.

What are you doing this spring break? Whatever it is, I hope you enjoy it!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. I mean, really, what's the point in entering a relationship with someone if you don't know whether or not you're compatible on a very basic level?

Consider these 21 questions to ask in the talking stage when getting to know that new guy or girl you just started talking to:

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
