What To Remember On Black Friday, According To A Retail Worker

Black Friday is becoming a 'unofficial holiday', but seeing how these people are, I'm surprised.

What To Remember On Black Friday, According To A Retail Worker

Black Friday should be its own national holiday because of the amount of people that partake in shopping after Thanksgiving. As a retail worker, I want people to realize that they wouldn't be able to shop if it wasn't for the workers. For this Black Friday, remember someone isn't with their family for your shopping needs.

1. We are missing our own Black Fridays for you

Instead of shopping for ourselves, we are working for these people that flood our stores. Yes, we can partake in Cyber Monday, but it's not the same when we are wanting these items from a store. Working on Black Friday takes a certain someone who can deal with all the craziness.

2. For the person that pays in ALL cash, we despise you

We always hope that every transaction is only credit or debit, because counting hundreds of dollars on Black Friday seems impossible. We are only wanting our night to go smoother and now we have to make sure we don't screw up with counting money under pressure.

3. WHY DO YOU NEED THREE 52 INCH TVs

It's crazy that people feel the need to buy that many TVs, but then again they make great for gifts right? Who wouldn't want that big of a TV?

4. Seeing everyone standing in line and coming into the store

If you are a people watcher, then this is the perfect job for you. Black Friday shoppers go all out when it comes to the sales, so when you're waiting for your next available line, just look around to see what craziness is around you.

5. The unnecessary attitude on Black Friday

Each customer seems to have an attitude when it comes to shopping for the holidays. The unnecessary attitude from customers is what makes the holidays dreadful. If an item is not on sale, then don't have a fit about it. There's plenty of other items that are on sale and are worth more than a sticking toy. Don't have an attitude with a retail worker because they don't set the prices.

6. If your card doesn't work, it's not our fault

If your card doesn't work, while trying to pay for your bargains, it's not our fault. And no, the card reader is not broken, it was working just fine seconds ago. If your card declines, we hate to be the bear of bad news, but it's not because of our store. Sorry.

7. Please don't decide on gifts at the register

It's always an annoyance when someone rethinks at the register for what they want to buy. It may make a retail worker upset if you take your time, just don't do it.

8. Wish us a 'Happy Holidays' when we say it to you

It's respectful to be kind to us retail workers around the holidays, so that being said, if we say something to you, just say it back. It's easy enough to just be kind to people, but we don't want a pity remark.

9. If we have to get a supervisor, don't get annoyed

If we need to get our supervisor's attention, don't take it personally, we just might need help with something. There could be a mess up with the computer system or the card reader, don't get annoyed.

10. But, just know that I wouldn't have my Black Friday any other way

If it wasn't for the craziness of Black Friday, I don't think anyone would enjoy it. It may seem like that worst thing on the planet, but after working and shopping both on this day, working Black Friday is a whole new level of crazy. Watching the people fight for gifts, run in stores and get attitudes over the slightest issues, is why I love working on this unofficial holiday.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
