What Rap Music Taught Me

Some things school never covered

What Rap Music Taught Me
MTV

Rap doesn't have the best reputation because of the famous vulgar content and how its known for talking about drugs, sex, and violence. It gets a lot of flack mostly by the parents and grandparents of us millennials. Rap is a not my favorite genre of music but I do not mind it. You won't catch me ever purchasing any tickets or music by these artist but I have learned a few thing from rap music.

1. Lil Wayne is not a human

Not only does he have two albums and a song called, I Am Not A Human Being. He also has a song titled, "Phone Home" which is also the famous phase from ET, and in the song he saids, "We are not the same I am a martian," then, "We are not the same I am an alien." So, I that learned Lil Wayne is not a human he is both a martian and alien or both? Which ever one he is, he is the first and only extra territorial rapper. So awesome.

2. Eminem taught me the truth about love

"Love is evol spell it backward I'll show ya." Everything about love made sense after I heard this lyric. Thank you Eminem. Now I know why JoJo sent home Luke on the Bachelorette and why Shonda Rhimes killed off McDreamy and McSteamy.

3. Kevin Gates taught me I should not get tired #IDGT

Kevin Gates has 6 jobs and he doesn't get tired. So considering that I do not even have one getting tired should not be a thing.

4. The truth about Taylor Swift thanks to Kayne

Good ol' Kanye West taught me that he made Taylor Swift famous. I am so glad I know this now. I had no clue how Swift was winning all these Grammys, selling out arenas every night and how she became this multi-platium record-breaking selling artist. Duh! Kanye was behind all of it. Makes so much sense now.

5. Soulja Boy taught me a thing about haters

"Haters getting mad cause I got me some bathing apes." I still don't know what bathing apes are but I assume if I got my hands on some that my haters will get mad. So should where do I buy some bathing apes?

6. Drake taught me 3 important things

#YOLO you only live once. I can now take all these risks and be above the law and have a reason to justify all my reckless action..#YOLO.

Drake also taught me that he started from "the bottom" now he is this billionaire successful artist. So all I have to do is start on Degrassi and one day I will be on Drake's level.

The last thing Drake taught me was that rappers can make emotionally-gripping and heart breaking music too. Don't let the genre fool you. Thank you Drake for being the Adele of the rap game.

7. Jay-Z taught me that science has been wrong

".38 revolve like the sun round the earth." For the past 19 years I have been under the false assumption that the earth revolves around the sun. Do scientist know they've been wrong too? Hopefully Jay-Z will do the right thing and contact NASA.

8. How to ball hard 101 by Wiz Khalifia

Wiz Khalifia taught me "the bigger the bill you harder you ball". So in order for me to ball hard I need some big bills to come my way. I guess I will be needing those 6 jobs Kevin Gates has.

Anyways I really do love and appreciate all kinds of music. So all jokes aside keep killing the rap game, guys.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
