What Qualifies As Star Power In Presidential Politics

Ted Cruz remained consistent in the 2016 Presidential campaign as the other candidates faltered and faded.

I closely watched and kept up to date on the current Republican Primary race this last month with some shock and dismay at this point. I was enthusiastic when Ted Cruz won the Iowa Caucuses and came in third in the New Hampshire Primary when it was expected he would not do so well. But, I was shocked when he took third place behind Donald Trump and Marco Rubio in the South Carolina Primary and the Nevada Caucus. I was dismayed when Donald Trump and Marco Rubio started calling Ted Cruz a liar, and when Ben Carson challenged Senator Cruz's integrity and character.

I decided to dedicate this post to some of my latest thoughts on the 2016 Presidential Campaign at this time. It is true Donald Trump is doing well, and he is the Republican frontrunner. It is true we have some in the media who declare the Republican Primary campaign is over, and Donald Trump won. But, the race is far from over with Super Tuesday on March 1 and many other state Caucuses and Primaries clear through June.

We understand as we learn in Astronomy shooting stars are not really stars. Shooting stars are actually meteorites, flying across the sky and temporarily lighting the night sky up before it fades. A shooting star happens in the moment just as it is with fireworks and do not last long. Many mistakingly bestow wishing power on shooting stars these objects do not have and sometimes say, "Wish upon a star!" a popular saying in the popular media.

Name recognition and celebrity status is not usually enough for Candidates in presidential politics. But, even those Candidates with name recognition and celebrity status who get elected President of the United States and even reelected are despised as much by people as they are adored by their fans. Nearly as many Americans, maybe, even more, Americans, despise Bill Clinton as who adore him. President Obama is less popular today than when he was elected in 2008 and reelected in 2012.

George HW Bush experienced a temporary surge in the polls after he won the Iowa Caucuses in 1980 only to lose the New Hampshire Primary to Ronald Reagan and eventually drop out in May. Bob Dole was not as lucky after he won the Iowa Caucuses in 1988 only to lose the New Hampshire Primary to George HW Bush and unable to regain his momentum after that. Fred Thompson and Rudy Giuliani were the Republican frontrunners, leading up to the 2008 election, only to not have enough staying power to maintain their leads through the early caucuses and primaries. Tim Pawlenty, Rick Perry, Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich, and Rick Santorum all replaced Mitt Romney as the Republican frontrunners at various times in 2011 to 2012 and did not have enough staying power to maintain their frontrunner status.

Ben Carson was everything many Republicans could have wanted in 2016. He was a former neurosurgeon and is a Washington outsider who grew up in poverty in Detroit, Michigan and achieved his American Dream through education and his career. He gained popularity in the Republican Party in 2013 with a speech at the national breakfast at the White House, attacking President Obama and the liberals. He was on top of the polls early in the 2016 Presidential campaign, moving between runner-up behind Donald Trump and frontrunner ahead of Donald Trump only to not have enough to maintain his early momentum.

Donald Trump easily gained frontrunner status in the Republican Party this election season as a DC outsider. He continues maintaining his lead and winning the most votes with his tough talk and tapping into the anger of voters on the Right. But, Donald Trump is not the solid Conservative Republican he sells himself as, being somebody who espouses New York liberal values, supports liberals like Hillary Clinton and Bill DeBlasio, and who thinks Planned Parenthood is good. Donald Trump has character issues, makes a mockery of religion as he blasts Ben Carson for being religion on the one hand and claims to speak for religious Americans on the other hand, and now having charges of tax fraud being leveled against him.

Polaris is another name for the North Star, directly above the night sky in the Northern Hemisphere. It is found directly past the tip of the Big Dipper. The North Star is Number 48 in brightness in the Universe. It was used by sailors and travelers in the past to find their way at sea and in the wilderness because the North Star is constant.

Ted Cruz is the candidate who I see as having this character in 2016. He is the same today as when he campaigned for the U.S. Senate in Texas in 2012. He is the one who consistently stood against amnesty, gun control, Obamacare, President Obama's record deficit spending, debt-increasing budgets, and Planned Parenthood in the US Senate. He stands against the Iranian Nuclear Deal and takes a stand against the Democrat and Republican leadership of the US Senate in defense of the United States of America and for the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Ted Cruz is the most presidential in his character of any Presidential Candidate this election and even more presidential than President Obama and Vice President Biden. Ted Cruz does not make personal attacks against other candidates and does not get negative in his campaigning. He is not prone to making gaffes in the way the other candidates are prone to making gaffes. He remains optimistic through the campaign and steady in his composure as he campaigns.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
